Best Way to Spend My 6000 Velocity Points??

Hi Everyone

A couple of years ago I signed up to an insurance package and received 6000 Virgin Velocity points and by now I would have assumed I would have found a use for them. But evidently, I haven't.

The Velocity shop has $20 itunes cards for about 5000 points but I feel that's a bit of a grab against those like me who have no better ideas for their use - that's considering a flight from Sydney to Melbourne is about 7800 points according to the calculator.

Anyway, calling on all the ozbargainers out there, how can I maximize my value from by 6000 points?

    Maybe donate them to charity

    • People are downvoting you… don't know why, sounds like a great idea to me.

1668 pts = $10 off at BP. So you basically have between $50-$60 worth that you can redeem at any BP.

    • I think this is the option, sad that I'm spending it on fuel but hey, I'm sure the Mrs will appreciate a full tank of petrol. Thankyou!

  • This isn't a bad guide for using points https://www.pointhacks.com.au/best-uses-of-velocity-points/

I wouldn't use them for fuel or gift cards though when you could get a couple of business class flights somewhere.

  • Though thinking about it I just got a $6,000 business flight from New York to London one way per person for my honeymoon for 49,000 Velocity points and $28 in taxes. If you look around you can find some really good way to use them.

    • Oh sorry my bad, I read 60K not 6K

      • Lol I wish I had a spare 60k.

If it was a few years ago, points expire if Velocity is not used. I would check first if in fact the points are still valid. Unless of course they have already contacted you recently to advise.

Your right, they do expire. I received an email saying I have 50 days to spend them which is the reason I started the thread. Thanks
