Getting a deal on Nintendo Switch console + 5 games?

So looking at buying a Nintendo Switch and 5 games within the next month or so.

Are there any retailers who I'd likely be able to negotiate a deal for buying this all at once? Maybe HN, or are these generally too small a margin to really deal with?

I see atm that HN have a console + yoshi at $449, which is one of the games we are after.

Most of the games are cheaper however via Amazon, so not sure if we'd be able to get someone to beat those prices? Think JB would do a deal?

Looking to get:
Breath of the wild
Super Mario
Mario Kart
Pokemon eevee
Yoshi's crafted world

Thanks!

  • Personally I've found HN more likely to give bigger discounts then JB, JB always gives me a discount when I buy something over $100 but its always $15 to $30. But I don't really see either giving much in way of discounts when it comes to consoles.

Not sure if its what you're looking for but I bought breath of the wild, super mario and mario kart quite cheap on gumtree, and since the switch uses carts, I didn't see any difference to new, but other people may feel different.

There's rumours of 2 new models being released this year. Might be worth waiting for them if not desperate.

    • Pro model likely not coming this year. Mini looking in doubt, but still possible

        Source?

        • Well you have to remember, confirmations were never official, but rumours and leaks from insiders.

I'm not saying it won't happen, but analysts predicted a release as early as June, but Nintendo have specified no hardware will be shown at E3 and it will simply focus on software.

          Google is your friend here.

Personally I will get 2nd hand, hack it and have 25 games right away.

    • But a year from now you will want to play the new Pokemon and suppose the new pokmeon won't work on an old hacked console at least for a long whiles.

Hacked or not won't matter in the slightest. If your emphasis was on the 'old' part instead of the hacked part, then: I highly doubt that they would stoop so low. That's completely scummy and shouldn't need any backing up of my reasoning - though, in case you do want my reasoning, beware of the text below.

Look at the 3DS & New 3DS - while Pokemon ran better on the New than the old, it still worked.

B-but wait! There are still exclusives, even if it wasn't Pokemon! What's to say Pokemon won't be one of the Switch Pro exclusives?

Pokemon Let's Go, and Pokemon Sword & Shield are all motivators for Pokemon fans to have bought a Switch, and Nintendo knows that. Nintendo knows that people bought an original / classic Switch to secure a Pokemon-playing device, and expect it to last the generation.

Now compare it to, say, Xenoblade Chronicles, which was a New 3DS exclusive. Note that there is no previous Xenoblade Chronicles game on the 3DS that would have prompted fans to buy an old 3DS prior.

B-but what about Fire Emblem Warriors? That couldn't run on the old 3DS, but could on the New! And there are other Fire Emblem games for the old 3DS!

Released on Switch at the same time. If a FE fan had an old 3DS, then Nintendo were likely counting on Warriors prompting them to buy a Switch, not a New 3DS.

I don't encourage hacking your Switch at all, please don't misunderstand. (Though if you still purchase all of the games that you can afford to, and would be willing to, as if your Switch was still unhacked - then suit yourself). I just wanted to point out why I, in my personal opinion, find it incredibly unlikely that hacking one's Switch would negatively impact their ability to play future Pokemon games.

In fact, hacked devices more often get games BEFORE release, such as Smash Ultimate and Pokemon Let's Go as a couple of 'larger' examples. Though that requires piracy and I strongly encourage NOT accessing games before release. Just thought I'd mention that as a fun fact.

Sure, everything I've said in this post could be wrong, and they could act on a whim ad make it exclusive. I'll admin my mistake, and get a hearty chuckle out Nintendo's decision if they really do. Until then, I'd instead like to ask you - what reason is there to believe that it will be exclusive?
