Regular Foreign Exchange Transfer- Best Way?

Hi OB legends!

So my family and I are moving to the UK on a medium term basis. My wife and kids move July/August, and I return to Aus to continue to work for 6-12 months whilst I look for jobs from this side of the pond. I will eventually also move to the uk, but later, once a job offer is certain.

My question is, in the interim, what is the best way to send regular payment from my fortnightly salary back to the uk?

I am considering Paypal, an international (no/low fee credit card) or simple foreign exchange transfers such as Ozforex etc.

Which do you think will offer decent rates and immediate money availability for her over in the UK?

Thanks in advance

An ING account - maybe you can just get a joint account or something. Otherwise her own account with a regular payment transfer setup. Work pays you, you then automatically transfer her the funds to her account(you can set all this up in online banking).. As long as you meet the requirements(~$2000 every month or something?), she'll have no international fees and the atm fees refunded. Alongside that, a 28 degrees card would be a good idea for emergency large expenses.

Everywhere in the UK takes card these days.

    • thanks Knick, we actually have an ING account already , so thats easy. ill compare exchange rates and go from there. the 28 degrees card also seems like a good idea. as a backup.
