Switching from Telstra Prepaid Freedom Plus (with $400 recharge credit) to Boost

I am currently with Freedom Plus prepaid with Telstra, paying $40 per month with $350 international call allowance and 3g data.
I have a credit balance of $400 which I don't know how to spend it as they have taken away spending on Google Play Store.
What can I do with the $400 credit?
I wanted to know when I switch over to Boost what will I miss.
The Boost $150 (12 months) includes 80g data and some international calls for free.
If I needed to call internationally outside of those free countries what option is best? Calling cards perhaps?

On top of the free countries, you also get 1200 mins standard calls & text to 30 select destinations: Afghanistan, America Samoa, Brunei, Cambodia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Greece, Guam, Hungary, Iceland, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Kuwait, Laos, Luxembourg, Malta, Mexico, Mongolia, Nepal, Norway, Peru, Puerto Rico, Romania, Slovak Republic, Spain, Sri Lanka, Sweden.

There's a convoluted way of getting the credit out using a G2A account, funding it from your Telstra account with Boku (the same system you use to buy ringtones) and then withdrawing from G2A to your PayPal account. You lose about half your balance in fees but that's better than nothing. Maybe search for "Boku" in this thread: https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2687207

  • i would suggest porting to another carrier altogether. history tells me porting inside one carrier (sp transfers) should be avoided at all cost you can port back after going to vodafone or optus just dont go straight to boost
