Suggest Me a Build?

Hi all,

My current system is ancient, it's a old AMD X2 black edition CPU with various GPU's over the years. It's served me damn well but I've been out of the game so long I don't know where to start. I don't game as much as I used to but I want to be able to play pretty much anything that's come out as well some titles coming up. Doesn't have to be high settings at all. Any suggestions? I have been looking at Techfast builds but I just don't know.

  • Don't suppose you want to state a budget? Is this just tower or tower/monitor/peripherals?

    • First post so I probably should have, whoops. I have the monitor and peripherals. But my budget would be probably 800 and less. I have a case, PSU and HDDs that I can save too.

    • +1

This would be your best option IMO. I'd upgrade the motherboard (Using techfast's optional upgrades) - and then you can re-use your existing case/PSU and add your existing HDD's.

    • All of the parts in this are OKAY. If you want to use your computer for things other than gaming then using a system with better components and one that doesn't put all of the budget into the CPU and gpu would be a better bet. Watch some videos on how to spend your budget on a pc. Having a good quality motherboard, ram and Ssd may be more useful to you than having a gpu which might be bottlenecked by the CPU and other components.

  • https://www.logicalincrements.com/ Take a look here and change it to australia.

Shows you different builds at different price points, and makes sure you dont spent too much on a component that does not match the rest of the PC in power/quality

  • get it used;

    i7 7700k with a matx z270 mobo
    rtx 2080
    16gb 3200mhz ram
    512ssd boot
    1tb ssd storage
    matx case

    • I have been looking at used and that was getting me confused as to if they were any good for asking price.

    • Need to be wary of the SSD's in terms of write capacity and lifespan

      • For sure I have a SSD boot drive - 2tb barracuda set up

    • If you're going used maybe grab a ryzen 1k CPU. Much better upgrade path.

  • Wait till the 3000 series AMD and Navi 7nm stuff is release next month/month after. Either get one of these, or find a cheap deal on the last gen.
