Are there any smart watches that are better than Apple Watch?

Thinking of buying an Apple watch but wondering if there is any other product which is much better and cheaper than Apple which is so friggin expensive.

    What features do you want/need?
    What is your budget?

    • All the features that Apple watch series 3 has + a decent battery backup. Budget is $300 with a little room for wiggle

Does the Apple logo count as a feature? (It seems to be the main deciding point for many customers!)

        • +1

Don't think there is much space on the watch to flaunt the logo but it feels great on my macbook :)

per ICB, really comes down to what you want it to do and how much you are willing to spend on a watch..
may or may not be better, as I know nothing of the apple watch, but I really like the Samsung variants.
I picked up the Frontier and a 3 day battery life which I find works well.
It does everything I need, looks great, no issues so far. charges very easily and relatively fast.

if I was not sure what watch, then a pros/con list for the ones you like,
does the pro's column justify the spend on a high dollar watch.

    • Thanks, my budget is pretty much between $50 to how much an Apple series 3 costs with a little room for wiggle. I am not a huge fan of Samsung as I find the user experience annoying sometimes. I am judging here based on my experience with smart phones. I don't mind going for a cheap one as well because a product like Mi Band 2/3 which has so many loaded features and a fraction of cost when compared to Fitbit bands. Also, the battery is like infinitely better which I cannot appreciate enough.

I just bought a Mobvi Ticwatch - been fairly happy with it - i get 1.5/2 days per charge and has everything i need.

    • Great, thanks. I'll check it out

Surely it depends on what phone/app ecosystem you use?

    No
If there was it would be out selling the Apple Watch.

Popularity is not an indication of quality. Especially when it comes to apple products.

      • If anything Apple products are renowned for their quality. You pay a Premium for it but they are by no means an inferior product, no matter how much you dislike them.

OP: if you’re on iOS then honestly the Apple Watch will be your best bet; it’s built for it. If you were using Android then I would have said skip the Apple Watch.

        • You need to get onto YouTube and look up Louis Rossman's channel.

    • Apple actually have a smallish market share so non apple watches outsell them. They just charge their fanboys a crazy premium for underpowered hardware so make a healthy profit.

Still rocking the pebble.. the original smart watch

    • Sad. My pebble battery died & the new one I soldered in also failed. No other watch has come close to what Pebble had.

I now use a Withings HR Steel Sport hybrid. About 4 weeks battery life, but doesn't do as much as the Apple Watch.

    • Same, I got a Samsung gear to replace my original pebble which died, the Samsung gear was so shit I sold it on eBay and bought another pebble.

    Xiaomi Amazfit Bip

As others above has mentioned. It depends on what features you are after.
Evidently the Amazfit Bip doesn't have all the fancy bells and whistles of the Apple Watch but it serves my purpose for a fraction of the cost (mine cost about $65).

The best part is the battery life which is about a month between each charge

This is a good smart watch. The kids wanted one as "everyone at school had an apple watch" so i got the BIP. The bonus points was Apple Watches were banend at school - but their Amazefit isnt…

    • Wow, had no idea about this. It looks awfully similar to Apple watch from the look if it haha. I'll sure check it out now. Thanks

    No- Apple Watch is best.

I have moved to android and have used TicWatches which are NOT as good.

I am now using Samsung Galaxy Active- and this is the BEST non-apple watch I have found. However it has limited apps as runs on Tizen.. so if you are needing a lot of apps (I dont on my watch) then its a great option within your price point.

It also works on both Android and IOS (but read about this first)

    Thanks

    • Great thanks for your comment. That brings me more closer to Apple watch.

No worries. I had apple watch series 2 and thought it was great. My wife has series 4 and its a great product.

I just couldnt stick with iphone, android is just a better fit for me… if Apple made their watch work on android I would buy today.

Nope, Apple Watch is the best option particularly if you are within the iOS ecosystem already. Note that the new Series 5 is expected in 3-4 months so it may be worth the wait.

    • Great, that would mean Series 4 price drop which has pretty much all the features I need unless Series 5 magically gets me go back in time. Cheers.

    • I also heard a rumour that the S5 might be cheaper (!) than the S4 so that would be great for S4 prices (since they were so much more than the Series 3!)

      • That would be quite unlikely from following Apple's releases over past few years and the fact they're selling like hotcakes as-is. Who knows though.

    nubia alpha

    • Thanks. At this price, I might go with Apple but looks interesting though.

  • If you really want an Apple Watch for around $300, just get a Series 2 on Gumtree 2nd Hand… You may even get a Series 3 for the price.
