    hot damn thats cheap

Superman 4K - $9.06 buy 1 get 1 free. What a bargain. Got 2 will sell the second.
Also got Captain America and Winter Soldier

OP What do you mean by splitting up the orders if you have prime?

    • That was outta stock earlier I believe, I ordered 6 movies for $80, just got in time for guaranteed Friday delivery.

All 3 Captain Americas, was a huge fan of Winter Soldier.

      • Superman was back in stock a few minutes ago.

Yup need to buy Civil War - gotta find something else at $25

        • I went with Bumblebee, I already have a 150 or so 4k movies, have bought and sold some multiple times too :( I'm horrible like that.

Deliberately held off for this very sale. Got some recently that were too good to pass up, like Black Hawk Down for free, which Amazon refunded us for anyway…

        • +3

Strong recommend spiderman - the spider-verse, would be amazing in 4k

    • +3

Like if you buy 4, group them together as two different orders to maximise the discount.
Prime being that you don't have to worry about hitting the $49 free shipping mark.

      • Yeah this, 2 $25 titles is better to combine obviously as opposed to a $40 and $20….

Provided you keep over the $49 spend (if you don't have Prime obviously).

      • how do you do that?

    • +9

I think it's a common thing with BOGOF that the cheaper items are free.

This means if you purchased 4 DVD's with a value of:
      $25
      $20
      $10
      $10

in 1 order, only the lowest priced items are free ($10 + $10).
In this scenario, you would be paying $25+$20 for your order with the 2 free DVDs.

If you split your order, you could be paying:
      $25 ($20 free)
      $10 ($10 free)
      Total $35 instead of $45, saving $10.

At least, that's how I always see it on BOGOF deals.

      • I did in one order 2 x Superman $9.08 each and 1 x Captain America, 1 x Winter Soldier ($25 each)

it applied the free item to Superman and Captain America

        • Consider yourself lucky… that shouldn't have worked in theory.

It should pick the 2 cheapest items. Also I believe JB limits how many of the same title you can buy, unsure what that is, or if Amazon does too…

          • @scuderiarmani: I actually found that amazon checkout is pretty good in that it will maximise your savings. No need for making multiple orders.
Unlike JB where you do have to or they will pair the most expensive item with the cheapest being free.

            • @gunnie: Yeah, I tried multiples and it did take the cheapest option (instead of what JB does). So perhaps Amazon's the best place to pile on the BOGOF savings.

              • @gryhawk: yes - Amazon definitely applies discounts the right way! I had to order from JB two at a time which was annoying but necessary!

      • +2

Wait, so how would it work if I got LOTR $84.98 + Harry Potter $84.98 + Hobbit 2 $15.98 + Hobbit 3 $15.98? If i added them together in one transaction, which ones would be free?

        • +2

Judging by the post above, it'll pair the item closest to its own price and you'll receive the cheaper one free.

          So you'll pay $84.98 + $15.98 instead.

You can double check before you actually confirm your purchase it though

  • +3

    Bad Boys / Bad Boy 2 4k - $10 each. Yes please

    • Got them too :) I actually have the US Version in it's nice double packaging, but I kinda don't like it being an odd one out…

Bad Boys 2 Car Chase scene is an awesome scene to show off a TV/Theatre System.

  • Seems to not be every single Blu Ray they have available. I was looking at a few last night to compare their prices with JB Hi-fi and they had the Blu Ray series I was after, but they don't show up when I search that Amazon link.

    • I believe it's limited to titles sold by Amazon AU, just try through the checkout, and if it doesn't work now, don't hesitate to try later too.

      • If the JB Hi-fi deal is online orders as well, I might as well just get them from there.

        • +1

It will be, and will likely start in an hour or so.

        • +2

          But cashrewards

          • @zorrt: JB is cheaper for what I am after and Amazon doesn't actually sell it themselves, only sellers through Amazon so I don't think it will be included in the deal.

  • Dead Pool 1 and 2 4k for $25 not bad

  • +3
  • No Harry Potter Year 7 Part 1 on 4k?

      ????

Forgive my Harry Potter ignorance… I gotta get around to watching the last… but in reality need to watch them all again to remember…

      • Sold by Amazon US and not Amazon AU like all the others so I assumed not part of sale.

        • Yeah it won't be, my bad. Stock fluctuates often on Amazon, you could always check again and see something different. Or just get 6 here and 2 in JB….

  • -2

    Didn't work with pre-order.

    • They never do, nor does JB, though once JB had an error on their site allowing pre-orders (unless it was maybe just a 20% sale instead of the B1G1F they've done annually)

  • If anyone is in Sydney CBD and struggling for a second $25 movie, let me know. I want Captain America Civil War but can't find anything else to buy for that price.

  • Thanks. Just picked up They Live 4K with Escape From New York 4K for $12.50 each.

  • +2

I am surprised at some of the box sets included. Dexter @ $180. Buy 2, $90each… but a quick google reveals this isn't a great price.

  • +2

Amazon is coming up cheaper for literally everything in my wishlist. Plus add 8% shopback and it's getting really hard to justify a trip to JB over the next few days.

    So far ordered:
    Aquaman 4K $15
    Ghostbusters 4K $15.00
    Close Encounters 4K $12.50
    Gladiator 4K $12.50

    • It's 4.5% shopback I think

    • Yes, it's 4.5%, I stand corrected.

  • +4

Wh…wha happened? I whited out, and when I came to I'd made 7 different transaction purchases of about 12 Blu-Rays, a couple of 4k, and all the Game of Thrones Seasons. Hundreds of dollars seem to be missing from my bank account, but also hundreds saved, so…

    That was a wild ride.

    • I'm gonna wait for a GOT 4K box set once this junk season finishes

      • I considered it, but 1080p is enough for me at $12ish a season. Trying to avoid falling into the need to constantly update. 4K only for things I REALLY love (Basically, Star Wars), Blu-Ray for everything else. I have no plans of building the same size DVD collection 2.0, and I figure if I can convince myself to be happy with limits, then that's sensible. We'll see how that goes. ':)

      • +5

yeah nah i think im just going to get seasons 1 -7 just because i refuse to believe the existence of this season

      • I don't watch GOT, but everywhere I go people are saying this season sucks. What is so bad about it?

        • D & D had the characters make decisions that were SO out of character. They ended the main arching plot within 1 episode which was slowly built over the course of 7 seasons. Season 1 - 7 was based on the books while they had no source material for season 8 which meant they had to make up their own story. Really I don't hate season 8 but I'm disappointed at the route it's going. They had ideas; mostly was poor but some good ones, it's just the execution was done so awfully.

          • @ramona: Shame, it really does suck when a great show turns bad. I'm still salty over the last two seasons of Sherlock LOL. Glossing over a climax/resolution of a story arc built up so long really is a sin against your viewers.

            • @sparkles: Oh man really? I enjoyed Sherlock throughout except the last episode of season 4. What exactly was the climax/resolution? The Moriarty fiasco?

  • Should I get dark knight 4k or matrix 4k?:) i already have gladiator in the cart

  • Has anyone bought the $84.98 harry potter collection from Amazon? I'm reading mixed reviews on it so not sure whether to get it alongside LOTR as they are both the same price so obviously I don't want to get something cheaper than that!

    • I had that set before I upgraded to 4K. What do you want to know? Each title has a movie disc and a special features disc. Plus there is a fold out Hogwarts blueprint and some cards.

This is the set YOU DON'T want as it has no special features discs whatsoever:
      https://www.jbhifi.com.au/movies-tv-shows/movies-tv-shows-on…

      • I'm just reading here: https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B077687P5K?ref_=plp_pc_dp_A19BA…
that people are saying they've been getting burned discs, delayed audio, various discs from different sets etc. This sounds horrid so I'm not sure who would buy this

        • +1

Those rubbish reviews are feeding through from the US Amazon site. I had no problems with the Australian version of this set. You basically get the same titles in the set as if you bought them individually, like this:

          https://www.amazon.com.au/Harry-Potter-Philosophers-Special-…

          • @sparkles: Do you reckon its worth getting LOTR boxed set and Harry Potter boxed set through amazon with a $10 promotional code from amazon or to head into Jb Hi Fi. I'm not sure whether this deal is better value for boxed sets or singular titles

            • +1

@Ethan Bargain-Hunt: Both the HP and LOTR titles are the exact same price at both, so you may as well go with Amazon and use your $10 voucher and get free delivery. Buying singles will cost more.

      • UPDATE I got my sets today. HP didn't have the Hogwarts blueprint or the cards and the LOTR one didn't come with any extras either. I'm not disappointed as such just pointing out that those two sets don't come with those extras. Maybe they've removed them in the more recent editions?

    • +17

Doesn't matter how fast your net is, its not as good quality as physical media. If you love movies then physical is the only way to go.

      • +3

REMUX - all the benefits of physical, only it's digital.

        • Too much hassle. Hard disk can fail as well.
Not worth it especially after Amazon has arrived!

      • +1

Maybe true for analog format but with digital if you get an iso or remux it will be the same quality. Shame there's no legal services to buy movies in "raw" format.

        • The problem I have is how huge remux files are, particularly for TV shows, and inability to losslessly compress. I've got a NAS currently with 16TB of storage, but that would be gone in a few months if I were to rip all of my Blu-Rays, let alone 4K content to it. My DVD collection in MKV format is about 6TB, and that's with just 5GB per disc (for junk quality these days.)

I haven't really got a satisfactory solution yet. Rip and compress movies for easy digital access, but watch from uncompressed discs?

          • +4

            @Phanatic:

            MKV format

            MKV isn't a format, it's a container.

What video codec are you using? HEVC is supposed to be great for cutting down on storage space.

            • +2

@[Deactivated]: Sure, but I'm using MKV for lossless storage in the original codecs. My problem with any lossy format is… will there come a time when a better algorithm will come out? If I don't have a digital copy of the original, then I can't fully utilize it. That's why I love storing my CDs in FLAC… whenever a better compressed audio format comes out for my low-storage devices, I can just recompress from the original quality. And if a better lossy format comes out than FLAC, I won't lose anything. If I'd only ripped my CDs to MP3 back in the day and got rid of the physical, I'd be screwed.

I just have digital FOMO! ':8

Grabbed Ready Player One 4K and Into the Spider-Verse 4K.

Not bad for ~$13.50 each after ShopBack promos.

  • I love Amazon.

  • +1

Ton of things out of stock

  • +1

    Cheers for posting the deal.

Matrix Trilogy 4K + Dark Knight Trilogy 4K for $69 altogether ($11.50 per movie) is pretty good.

  • +3

Thanks for the heads up OP!
Was able to grab Avatar-TLA, Steins;Gate, Spiderverse, Aquaman, Infinity War and Ragnorak

    Officially happy :)

    • Aquaman shudder. That dude can't act

      • Might not be the greatest movie, but it sure was entertaining :)

    • Steins;Gate was included?

      • Yeah, they had a copy left after I checked out.

  • Much better deal than the lightning deals during Black Friday last year, but then again some of the titles are already older.

Just a tip, if you are looking at the Marvel 4K UHD titles, I am noticing that some of the new 4k releases like the three Captain America movies are all UHD movie only without the separate Blu-Ray (unlike the US releases or the Thor/Avengers/Guardians/Ant-man movies), which means no special features that the standard BR has. I ended up buying the standard BR along with the Iron Man ones. Might want to wait until Endgame comes out and they might get releases later.

Between this and JB Hi-FI's deals, I have bought 14 blu-rays, probably time to stop buying any more.

  • I loaded up on UHD Inception, Matrix, Martian and Gatsby. Grabbed 1/2 doz cheapo pixar/disney films too.

And bought a Sony X700 UHD player for $231 delivered from bing lee ebay… so I can finally actually play these new purchases, as well as the Interstallar 4K disc, and battlestar box set I've had sitting around.

Oh boy… might need to take another shift at work.

    • +2

Then you realise you don’t have a UHD TV yet.

      • Holding out for 8k TVs with Dolby SuperVision/UHDR to come down in price…

  • Is 4K animation (pixar/disney, like Incredible, Lion King) a significant improvement on blurays?
