Cumulative Disqualification Courtesy Notice QLD

Just a quick question for those of you unfortunate enough to have been served a cumulative disqualification period for your licence.

The end date of my disqualified period is today the 17th of May and Main Roads told me over the phone "you should be okay" to come in today but a work colleague who recently got their licence back said they had to go in the day after the end date from their memory.

I understand the operator over the phone at Main Roads is reading from a script and the work colleague is going from memory >6 months ago but has anyone else had any experience in this department care to comment?

Thought best to ask in an effort not to waste a trip to the department of transport using uber + public transport for no reason when I know it will 100% be available Monday the 20th.

Thanks in advance.

Edit - To clear up confusion - Can you go into TMR to apply for your licence on the end date of your suspension or the day after. Over the phone I've been told from TMR that you can but a colleague who recently went through this process says you cannot.

I'd would have thought it applies until midnight.

    • That's what the work colleague believes was the reason they had to wait, thanks for the info.

The only organisation that can tell you if you can drive today, is Main Roads. Definitely not 'your mate' or 'OzMainRoads'.

Speak to them and ask them if you can drive today…….get the name of the person you speak to.

    Can't you check online?

    • When I called Main Roads they said I "should be okay" but a colleague believes I won't be.

Asking here to see if it's worth investing the time to go into one of the departments only to be told no in person.

Online doesn't tell me anything other than what my paper documents state sadly.

Disqualification period will end at midnight tonight. Don't they have service centres open on Saturdays?

    • I couldn't find any service centres open Saturday on the QLD TMR website around SEQ.

Not open weekends, plus its voting day… please wait ;-)

I haven't driven for the last month and won't be driving until I go into a TMR to get a licence sorted / piece of paper to say the physical card is coming in the mail.

sounds like you have it sorted

So you have to sit the whole driving test again or do they just give you your license back?

Just have to go into TMR to physically apply and pay for a new licence as far as I am aware. Nothing on the documents delivered after court about resitting a test. Will spend 12 months on an open probationary licence however which will sting (24/7 0.00% BAC and no driving 11pm-5am)
