Recycled water and Bidet installation

Hi,

I have query regarding bidet installation in a toilet using recycled water.

I am planning to get a Xiaomi smart seat bidet. My toilet uses recycled water. I could see that the bidet comes with a water filter. Will this filter help with recycled water or should I need to add another water point for the bidet?

You sure you want to use recycle water to wash your bits?

    • Hence asking about the usage of water filter provided.

From my understanding the filter is just that, it does not 'purify' the water. I wouldn't recommend spraying recycled or recliamed water around your butthole or vajayjay

        • Thanks

I would not trust that filter it might only stop/block oblivious items, might be their just to prevent damage to the mechanism but not for hygiene, it might do nothing with to the bacteria or germs or whatever tiny bad stuff its called, since its recycled everything from the gut might be in this water, better to source clean water

    • Thanks a lot. A new water point it is. No need of any risk. Any idea about the cost involved in adding a new water point to the toilet? I know it varies. But an average ball park figure will help with the discussions

      • For me installation isn’t an urgent matter, I might go the DIY path, will watch heaps of videos, read blogs, learn new skills, buy new tools, finally buy my stuff from Bunnings :-)

        • I don't have any troubles with bidet installation as I can do it myself. Its the water point, that's troubling me. I guess I will have to get plumber involved for the water point.

  • I ordered my Xiaomi smart seat. Installed it myself. Very easy. Why do you want to use recycled water? Rates are same for normal and recycled water isn’t it? Well for me it is. I’m in western suburbs of Melb. This seat comes with a filter so the water you use gets filtered. I wouldn’t want to use recycled water to wash my bum.

    • My toilet uses recycled water and has no normal water point. So I was checking if the water filter is useful. Seems like thats just for the mechanism.
It seems you connected it to the normal water. Did you had to add a new water point for the bidet?

My toilet uses recycled water and has no normal water point.
Is this a separate toilet or a combined Bath/Toilet. Don't you have a Basin in you toilet Where you normally brush your teeth, wash your face/hands? What water do you use for that?
Can't you just connect the same? If the water is good for your Face/mouth, I am sure it could'nt be worse for your backside.

        • It is a seperate toliet. No wash basin. But yes, I plan to use normal water which is used for washing face/brushing/drinking. Just trying to figure out the cost of a new water point.

      • No I already had a normal water point.

  • Not much point washing yourself with toothpaste spit and congealed dandruff cakes. :p

  • Eau De Toilette, it's been done.

  • I know this is an old PST but did you end up getting a water point installed? I had it built when I built my current house but the builder was forced to seal off the fresh water pipe due to cross-contamination.
When I asked a plumber, he said it could cost up to $2000 to get it reconnected as it needs to fit backflow prevention devices at several points in the water pipes

    • $2k is pricy. I'm in a similar boat and keen to install a bidet in a toilet with recycled water but not willing to spend thousands to get a water point there. Is there a bidet out there that can draw water from a container rather then the mains?

      • I ended up getting one of those travel ones from Amazon Japan for $45

        • Are you able to share a link by any chance?

          • @ialam99: I bought it when I was in Japan (they only ship within Japan) but you can get one through eBay (type in "portable bidet"
