Belkin 3M USB Cable (USB/A - 5Pin Mini/B) ONLY $1 @ Officeworks!

290

So, I was looking through Officeworks for a USB tether cable for my 5DII and saw this crazy deal. The ticket on the shelf actually said $2.22, so I grabbed 2 to test the waters at the checkout. There was no clearance sticker or anything and the checkout chick didn't bat an eyelid as the price actually came up as $1. So yeah, I'm going back for more :)
But it is weird, considering the 2M version by Belkin was like $25 or something.
This was at the Underwood, QLD store btw.

I actually end up with too many of these cables from previously-used devices.

    • Ya, me too, but only the 1.8m cables which are too short for tethering. 3 meters ftw :)

  • nice find…btw a 1m length is nice, is 3m overkill?

  • I use the longer ones for tethered capture with my 5DII. That means I can walk around a bit when taking studio style shots connected to the Mac. I guess the length is fairly use-specific, but a bargain for those who'd use it for sure.

  • i'm thinking of using this as a ps3 controller charger cable…should let me continue playing on the couch whilst charging… =)

    • Hey that's a good idea….
      -runs off to local OW-

  • these used to be $19.95 when I worked at Officworks.

  • I don't understand why there are mini and micro ports… they are virtually the same size but different… 1m charge cable for my Desire is damn annoying!

    • Yeah, except they are totally different.

Connectors are always going to get smaller. Smaller = cheaper to make.

    • MicroUSB is a newer design. It's smaller and supposedly a bit sturdier than MiniUSB.

  • can anyone confirm if it is available in officworks stores nationwide?

    • i can confirm that none available in SA. as usual.

  • Perfect for what I need in my car! :)

  • can these be used to connect computer to printer?

    • Probably not. Every printer I've seen has used the full size USB B connector rather than MiniUSB.
