  • This is a fairly good deal. But may I ask guys, how much does it usually cost to install a Split-Machine Air-Con unit like one of these?

    • In my experience count on paying around $500 for a simple install.

Doesnt seem that amazing? No name split system for $200 more than astivistas was on special.

What benifits does it give over theirs op?

    • Carrier is a well known brand and this one has a 5 year warranty

From my research, larger Carrier ducted units are reasonable, but the splits are just cheap no name units with the "Carrier" name on it.

I had the misfortune of using a Carrier 5Kw split system and it was far worse than when I've used Fujitsu or Mitsubishi units. It was so noisy - even on the lowest fan speed it was intrusive to watching TV. High speed meant you needed raised voices in the room. Just awful.

The other thing is the internal fan didn't cycle off, so when the room reaches temp, the internal fan keeps blowing air around making it feel cold again (tepid air being blown around).

All in all, buy a name brand like Fujitsu, Mitsubishi, Panasonic. It might cost $100-200 more, but it's so worth it. In fact, I bought my last Fujitsu 2.5kw for aorund this same price when on special and combined with a cashback.

  • Does anyone know the star rating for this conditioner. I found this

    Efficiency - rated-cooling EER 4.04
    Efficiency - rated-heating COP 3.94

Would those numbers be equal to star rating or not

I don't think that's anything amazing - I think some name brand 2.5kw units can be over 5 for these ratings.
