eBay Guaranteed Delivery - experiences claiming for late delivery?

Last week (Mon 13th) I bought a Unifi switch off Computer Alliance ebay, which was listed as having guaranteed delivery by Fri 17th. This date was also in my purchase confirmation.

Unfortunately, it still hasn't arrived. Tracking shows it was 'processed at facility' in Sydney 1:46am Friday morning and 'arrived at facility' in Sydney on Mon 20th at 2:51.

When I try to report late delivery, either from the order email or via My eBay, I get a message that "Sorry, reporting a late delivery isn't available right now. Please try again later." It has been the same error message all weekend, all Monday and so far Tuesday. Has anyone else had this error code?

Try contacting eBay support (call them ?)

  • guaranteed

when has anything ever been "guaranteed" in this world??

have you contacted the seller at all or just posted on ozbargain?

    • Just posted here, because the eBay guarantee is offered separate from the seller. https://pages.ebay.com.au/shipping/guaranteed-delivery.html

I'm not that fussed if it takes a few more days - I know the seller is reputable and that delivery won't be far away.

I'm more curious to find out how the postage refund or voucher works because I'd never noticed it before this purchase. It wouldn't be fair to hold the seller responsible for Australia Post, so I presume it must be tied to some sort of agreement between AP and eBay.

@endotherm: The trick is to earn $18200.99

            • @[Deactivated]: You cant avoid GST :)

              • @foxmulder: Having GST applied isn't guaranteed. I might only buy unprocessed food and other exempt items. I might buy from unscrupulous sellers from overseas who don't collect it. Other taxes may or may not be applied depending on what you buy. As such it isn't guaranteed, hence my original statement that death is the only thing you can truly depend on.

          • @endotherm: What about GST and other taxes?

            • @xuqi: Input tax credits with your abn

My experience was it only allowed me to report it after delivery had been completed. I don't remember anything happening from it just said sorry I think. Maybe it's different if you pay for the postage?

    • Thanks Penguincat. I'll see if the option becomes available once my purchase arrives.

      • I have done it once, and pretty sure I had to wait til the item was actually delivered as well. Think I got a $10 or $20 voucher as compensation?

  • You should be able to report late delivery for $10 compensation or free return to send the item back(once delivered) for full refund.

Contact ebay if you can't do it
