Has David Jones permanently stopped selling Apple devices?

It appears that no apple devices (e.g. Macs, iPhones etc.) can be purchased directly from the David Jones website and many of the previous sections of the website devoted to apple appear empty. They seem to be clearing out old stock based on a few of the iPad deals posted.

Would anybody here in the know be able to reveal if David Jones has permanently stopped selling all Apple devices and is just clearing old inventory now?

We do sell Apple Products. The online website only shows a small portion of all the items we sell. There are a lot of things we sell that are not listed for sale on the website because the warehouse does not have anymore stock and the newer products weren't listed.

Call up your David Jones store to check if they stock for the Apple Devices you want. Based on your location, that is Market St, Bondi Jn, and Chatswood only.

    • Thanks, do you know if the newer products will ever be listed on the website just to get a general idea of the range that might be in stock?

Possibly. Really depends on the online and marketing team. I wouldn't wait for it though, might never happen

    • How did you reply to this in 32 minutes.

      • Because it came up on the homepage? i got notifications when he commented? idk what else you wanna know ahahah

I know that Myer has exited Apple and that JB Hifi is renegotiating its margins with Apple (or threatening to drop the products all together)
the mark up/margin is so small its hardly worth it for a lot of retailers.
It is possible that why DJ's still is selling them, they maybe phasing them out similar to Myer.

    • Yes it is quite strange for DJs to not list any of the newer Apple products on the website and only sell them in a few select stores. Margins aren't that great on Apple for retailers so maybe DJs are also thinking of not selling them in the near future.

They only sell Apple products in the bigger stores (or in DJs world, higher tier stores) where there's enough foot traffic and demographics where people will actually buy them. They only brought their AV department back less than two years ago after Dick Smith collapsed.

        • That makes sense.

Although I think it would still be helpful to list their range of Apple stuff on the website (with clear notices explaining availability at Chatswood, Bondi, Market Street only). Many of the new Apple products have been out for quite a while now

Otherwise it seems they'd potentially only sell these thing to people who stumble upon Apple stuff in these specific stores or are focused enough to deliberately want to call and buy Apple stuff from DJs only, for whatever reason, rather than just quickly pop on a website of any other retailer and order.

@JacobHarvey: Feel free to e-mail [email protected] about it. Their Apple range isn't that big though; when I used to work there, I wanted a 4G iPad mini but they didn't have it as part of their range, so had to buy elsewhere.

Because the warehouse doesn't stock Apple at all e.g. Macbooks and stock is usually pretty limited in stores, that's probably the main reason why the latest Apple gear isn't available on the website.

The days when Dick Smith ran the department was the bomb because you could stack their sales with your staff discount …
