Need a Washing Machine, TV and a Fridge!

Hi all,

I have just bought a house and I need the basic kit to get started!

Does anyone know these days if its best to go to the likes of Harvey norman, Good guys or JB Hifi and try and negotiate? Or just buy them individually.

Probably looking for a UHD TV 60", european energy efficient washing machine and energey efficient fridge.

Thanks,
Shane

  • Select the items you want (LG GT-442SDC fridge, LG WTS6520 washing machine and Sony TV) then call Appliances Online to give you the best deal delivered.

Are you looking for an all in one unit?

that's a WIFE - high upfront and maintenance cost though.

Thats why brides get married in white, All good household appliances come in white.

And often start to give trouble some time after 10 years.

I found buying through the one place I could haggle far lower on three items than I’d have gotten off just one. Also only one delivery/install fee.

I also, annoyingly, found my local HN to be the cheapest, and then they reduced it well below what the others would. But that’s my local. You’ll have to go to your local to find out who does what there.

  • Get a TV first. Then you can check ads for deals. No, wait… get NBN first. Ahhh, try freecycle if you don't mind second hand.

All of these for no extra effort on your part.

Start by deciding the models you want and work from there.

For the fridge, the dimensions will generally dictate what you decide. Find the best fit, and then shop around.

For the TV, I'm lazy and always go with a special at JB ie. like this:
    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/samsung/samsung-series-7-ru7100-55…

  • I prefer the negotiation at TGG

  • get a big screen television

  • wow, so many replies! and so many abbreviations..

i have not started looking yet. i was just wondering was it better to go for a bundle deal with a retailer. or look at pricing them individually. also, its nearly EOFY, so not sure who would give the best deals.

      1. Work out which models you'd like most, maybe even a superior model that you'd go for if the price is right
      2. Check here for deals on those
      3. Go in store and haggle

I doubt you'll find all 3 options will be amazing bargain buys when you're ready, but hopefully 1 or 2 are and you find a decent price on the 3rd.

  • so whats the best TVs these days?? btw I am not a TV geek so I am not particular. I currently have a samsung 40' UHD TV (Model: TV UA40JU6400). I am looking for around a 60' UHD smart TV.

    Samsung, Sony, LG??

Samsung RU7100 series will be essentially the same as what you’ve got, with a faster menu system. If you want a significantly better image go for the Q60, or find an NU8000 model. In other brands the X8500 from Sony, or if you really want to go up in quality (and price) an OLED from LG (B8 is cheapest). LG TVs use IPS screens so they’ve got good viewing angles (colour stays relatively consistent even if you’re not directly in front of it) but they won’t be as vivid straight on as Samsungs.

Basically just go have a look somewhere you can compare different TVs, and see if the differences you see justify the price increase.

If you want to chat about possible pricing from TGG, shoot me a PM - always happy to help someone from ozbargain.

      • Hey Slowey..

whats your opinion on Hisense TV's specially P7 series.

        • +1

Hey Indi24, Hisense TVs are really good for the price. The P7 picture quality is better than most LG LED TVs, better than the entry level Samsung and Sony TVs too. Their main issue is the smart features aren’t as polished (a little slower, laggy at times, sometimes crash). But if you can put up with that, or you’ve got another device to do Netflix, YouTube and the like (Apple Tv, Fetch TV etc.), then they’re great value.

Will they be as good as a high end TV from one of the well known TV brands? No, but they’re about half the price.

Check Bing Lee, JB HiFi or Appliances online out, have a look at the Beko stuff, 5 years warranty!

  • These items deprecate fast. Buy used ones.

  • +2

Buy in one place, should be able to get a better bargain. See if they’ll throw delivery in for free,
Bosch for a front loading energy efficient washing machine. Min.7-8kg.
I like Westinghouse for fridges, opt for a water/ice dispenser model. Very handle.

Use appliance online to find models and then do your comparison homework. Shop late on a Sunday. Sales guy would want to close high with commission.

PS: don’t get done with extended warranty BS.

    • Westinghouse a good model for fridge? I am thinking french door style.

      • +1

Generally Westinghouse/Electrolux (same company) or Fisher & Paykel are safe options - lots of flexibility in shelf placement, often real stainless steel too. LG and Samsung are also decent, and often have handy features other brands don’t (door in door), touchscreen etc.

Also, if your budget allows, have a look at the models that have convertible sections/drawers - really handy for converting from freezer to fridge, or just keeping a higher temperature so your ice cream etc. doesn’t freeze solid.

Be mindful that most fridges with water/ice dispensers require plumbing, so if you don’t have a tap in your kitchen where the fridge goes, you won’t be able to use it.

Definitely 1 thing I like about our Hisense's water dispenser is it's a storage system, so it's just like having a container with a tap, no need to plumb in

        • thanks for the feedback

  • ok, so for tv Im leaning towards Samsung 55" QLED Q7 4K Smart TV QA55Q7FNAWXXY

    anyone have this TV?
