Should I buy The Samsung Galaxy S7 refurbished?

Hello Ozbargain
Recently I have been having hardware and software troubles with my current phone and as a result, have been looking for a new phone.
I was browsing eBay and saw a listing for the S7 Refurbished for about $220. Due to having an eBay plus subscription I received a promo code that lowered it down to $194.65.
Is it worth the purchase at this price point? My current phone does not have NFC, wireless charging or additional storage in the form of micro sd. Is it worth purchasing this phone at this price point in 2019? Is there a phone that offers all or at least some of the features for the same or lower price?

Thanks in advance

  • I've got the s7 edge which is still going strong, recently formatted it which has made it a lot faster. I'm not finding anything that the phone can't do that the newer ones can. Might be cheaper options but you can never go wrong with a flagship phone.

  • +1

I would have a look at the Sharp AQUOS S3 $206.59 includes shipping . This phone I find well made easy to use at a good price.

  • Does refurbished mean a new battery?
Otherwise it is a great phone.

It is still reasonably powerful compared to new phones that cost $300+, I would pay a bit extra for a new one if available, as the battery wears out over time

    • I have the Meizu M6 note - very good phone. great battery life, camera is good (the stock camera app is terrible).

  • I have an s6 which is going strong after I bought it used off eBay last year. But it was all glitchy when I bought it, and I think that is the why the guy sold it. Reason was that it had not been updated, and could not be updated because it was on overseas model.
Talked to Samsung service, who would not touch it, but suggested another way to update, which worked fine and now the phone updates nicely.
So make sure it's a local model to avoid a headache like mine

    • What was the other way to update?

  • I'm posting this from an S7 purchased in August 2016. Still going strong. Make sure it has a new battery and you've got a great purchase for that price.

  • I have an s7 since new. Great phone, is replacing the battery worth it?

  • I'm using a few year old S7 I grey imported. My usage it outside the norm because I've always run it on custom recovery and ROM's.
It's still kicking strong, but the right most vertical row of pixels are failing like this https://i2.wp.com/9to5google.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/4/…

    • I wonder if that is a fault with the connector rather than the screen

My friends S7 has a screen fault in that exact place also
