Roborock is high end while the roomba model is mid range.

No smart mapping and only 600pa suction v 2000pa in the xiaomi, less then half runtime capacity, no mopping and no HEPA filter just to name a fewI have the Roborock S50 it is the third and best robot vacuum have owned now. Been going over a year no issues. The smarts on it are amazing, the house mapping is uncanny and importantly does an amazing job at vacuuming. I can't compare personally to the Roomba.

Just to note, the S50 has been superseded by their newer model and despite promising new features for the S50 via software Xiaomi have reneged and now it wont be getting the room management, improved mapping etc. So any updates for the S50 going forward will likely be non existent.
The existing maps are great though; no go zones, virtual walls etc. Are there any major short comings?
Yes named room zones, so you can easily vacuum just the kitchen or just the lounge. Multi floor maps if you have a split level or multi-flood house etc. There are several shortcomings.
Roborock promised these in a firmware update, but have since dropped S50 users. If the S50 does what you want then great, just so people are aware it's essentially an EOL product and you cant trust the company to provide anything in the way of fixes and improvements going forward.
What's the new one called? Is it already out?
Apart from the additional 4 weeks shipping time, why not buy from China? It's $180 cheaper inc GST. Looks to be the same Australian model.

I've been umming and ahhing on this one for a while now. I realise it's better - but how much better than the Roomba 690? Would it be considered a slight upgrade or a significant upgrade?
