SanDisk Extreme Pro 128GB Micro SD Card $43.90 Delivered @ Shopping Square eBay

180
PEOFY

I have bought three of these micro-SD cards over the course of this year. I use them in my GoPros [6 & 7 Black].

I'm not sure I need another one, but at this price, I am very tempted.

At $43.90, this is the cheapest yet [as far as I can ascertain]. Previously, it has been:

  • $71.16 - Feb 2019 [with eBay 20% off sale]
  • $66.86 - Mar 2019 [with eBay 20% off sale]
  • $55.57 - Apr 2019 [with eBay 20% off sale]

Also, the 128gb micro-SD looks to be the sweet-spot currently for pricing:

  • 128GB - $43.90 = $0.34 per MB [using shoppingsquareaustralia pricing]
  • 64GB - $27.48 = $0.43 per MB [using shoppingsquare pricing]
  • 32GB - $16.69 = $0.52 per MB [using shoppingsquareaustralia pricing]
  • 256GB - $117.99 = $0.46 per MB [using sinceritytradingau (local) pricing]
  • 256GB - $108.99 = $0.43 per MB [using sinceritytradingau (Hong Kong) pricing]

  • Looks like a good price for this model of card, but if you just want to use it in your GoPro, you might as well get the Samsung Evo 256GB for $54. The GoPros cannot take advantage of the higher speed, so you're paying extra for a feature you cannot use.

    • Sure…but my understanding is that the GoPro can only use 128GB max cards. I have read online where people have successfully used that 256Gb card, but I have also read where some users have had significant problems.

I have been using the Sandisk Extreme Pro 64GB cards exclusively until this year when the 128GB cards became relatively affordable. I have had no problems with any of them [I own four of these 64GB cards].

Given that I am using the GoPro to make memories of overseas holidays and my daughter growing up, I personally would prefer to spend a few dollars more to have that added peace of mind.

      • Thanks for posting the deal. It's a shame I just ordered the 128gb Samsung EVO plus last night from Amazon for $36 each.

Just FYI - according to GoPro, they do support 256Gb cards - https://gopro.com/help/articles/Block/microSD-Card-Considera…

        • Thanks for that link. For some reason, I have always thought that the 128GB card was the maximum.

I don't know where I got that idea from, but I guess I am mistaken. Perhaps I read that page in relation to the GP6 and prior to them updating the information for the GP7.

        • .
THANKS !! for that link l also thought GoPro limit was 128GB
Only the Hero 7 supports 256GB and last year l got Samsung Evo Plus 256GB for my next phone but l bought a OnePlus 6 which doesn't use SD cards

Now l can make use of the 256GB in my Hero 7 :)

        • The 128GB EVO+ are usually under $30 on ebay with a discount code.

OK, but FWIW I use my GoPro 7 and Sony A7 III on holidays as well and have had no problems at all with the well-regarded Samsung Evo Plus cards. They're $26 for 128GB.

  • does anyone know if the Mavic would benefit from the 170 mb/s vs. the standard 100 mb/s Sd cards?

    • I wonder how it can even do 170MB/s when UHS-I cards are limited to 104MB/s max.

It's like expecting your 860 EVO to be able to push 1GB/s, when SATA3 is limited to ~550MB/s

      • I wonder how it can even do 170MB/s when UHS-I cards are limited to 104MB/s max(sdcard.org).

Video bitrates are stated in megabits per second (Mbps), so zekem means 170Mbps which is 21.25MB/s.

        • I do understand the difference between Mbps and MBps, but if you look at the description of the item, it says

          Read Speed: up to 170MB/s3
          Write Speed: up to 90MB/s3
          Video Speed: C10, U3, A2, V304
          Form Factor: microSDXC

and this is mentioned more than once, so it's probably not a typo.

          • +1

@[Deactivated]: Oh, sorry, I didn't read the description, I was just replying based on the OP's post.

The Extreme Pro doesn't just support UHS-I, it also supports DDR200 speeds with WD's own technology. That means you'll only get 170MB/s with certain devices like their MobileMate card reader, though. Anandtech says some phones support it too, but don't specify which.

            • @eug: Oh, interesting. I just found the article, and didn't know about the existence of DDR-200. Thanks!

    • Doubt it, from memory the Mav1 only does ~60mbit/s and Mav2 does ~100mbit/s.

I'm using Sandisk extreme's (non pro) in the Mav2pro.

Thanks, bought one for my Insta360 One X. Which I haven't got yet.

  • Thanks OP…ShoppingSquare feedback is a bit ordinary, but I bought one anyway!
