Are These Deals Legit?

I haven't used Ebay that much, so not sure how legit these deals are. The guy seems to have a decent number of feedbacks, but unsure if he's selling fake ones.

The Herman Miller Aeron was still available for purchase and had 10 stocks available yesterday. I woke up this morning to find that it's sold out. However, if you look at the purchase history, only 3 stocks were sold. Not sure what happened to the other 7 stocks?

And looking at the eBay Money Back Guarantee policy, it seems that if you haven't received the item, you could claim for a refund and Ebay should sort that for you. In addition to that, you can do a credit chargeback through your bank. So I'm somewhat willing to risk a gamble here, but still unsure.

Can someone confirm if OK or share their thoughts?

  • If its seems to good to be true it probably is. They are trying to scam Paypal or the like I suspect. Even if the Aerons were second hand they are not that cheap. New. No way as they retail in AUS for at least $1200-1599 new. 100% sure fake. Assuming you receive it. IMO.

    • Yeah, that's what I thought. I've done my fair bit of research on the Aerons and they are mostly expensive.

I did however live in Taiwan for a while and found some amazing deals. I remember buying the iPhone 5s when it first came out for like $500 NZD. Back then, it was at least $1000 NZD. Still have the 5s to this day and verified the serial against the serial checker on Apple's site. It's still working mint. So sometimes I wonder if these deals are scams or just an unicorn bargain deal.

      • Well for the price you could try. If you don't get it paypal dispute of CB on credit. The seller obviously has some reasonable items for sale.

  • come on, its way too cheap

  • One of the ways scammers can get away with your $$$ is by shipping empty parcels to you (ebay sees that the shipment is delivered and won't refund your money). Happened to my friend once when he purchased an item with a price that is too good to be true.

    • Thanks guys, I would have never guessed. I guess I'll just have to save up and buy one from a legit reseler then.
