If I was paying over $2000 for a bicycle I'd expect it to come with pedals…

    • It's not a feature?

I thought we live in a day where we remove parts and Jack up the price.

To be honest I didn't even realise it… Only had a quick glimpse only.

Any premium bike does not come with pedals. As there are a few different standards for cleats it leaves it to owner to decide

      • So it really is a feature :(

    • pedals? I'd also want a motor hidden in the seat-tube, bluetooth entertainment system, automatic transmission, and satnav.

Disc brakes on a road bike? When can we expect hydraulic shifters, instead of those old-fashioned cables?

All these you mentioned above are commercially available… yes, including hydraulic shifting.. or even better, wireless electronic shifting is also mass produced.

Almost thought price was for 2 bikes 😳

    • Wait until you see those $10k bikes

  • Good price but what's the wheelset brand/model OP?

    • I had the same question - from photos the wheels are DT Swiss RP24 Spline.

      good review here - https://road.cc/content/review/152949-dt-swiss-r24-spline-db…

The SPLINE DB wheelset range from DT Swiss is a welcome addition to the disc brake wheel market and with their entry-level R24s they come in at a sensible price and weight too. Pair that to excellent build quality from decent components and you've got a wheelset that'll cover everything from fast training rides to a bit of cyclo-cross.

Internal width 18mm so suit 25/28mm's. In summary 2015 model, but very reasonable and good trainer/entry level performance, and wouldn't really need an upgrade unless hills/racing/aero/ego.

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/New-700c-Road-bike-14-spd-Shiman… seems to have so much more value for 311.65 delivered to metro area with eBay plus and pappy code.

    • Depends what you value - as commuter transport they are somewhat similar. For recreation or sport they are really different.

  • Not full Ultegra, and it's the old Ultegra 6800 groupset. Not the current R8000…

    • hence the price drop. Full Ultegra is generally upward of $4000. Mostly paying for the Avanti brand. But At this point a full 105 R7000 is probably better and cheaper

  • Why do road bikes only have 2 gears up front?

Can they fit your typical 3x gear setup?

    • That’s because with 3 rings at front and 11 cogs at the back duplicate some of the gear ratios, especially for road bikes the gearing are very close, it’s therefore uneconomical and carries weight penalty. Sorry it’s a bit technical… in summary 3 rings offers more con than pro
