Monitor No Signal on my PC

Hi I need help I'm freaking out. Monitor keeps telling me no signal. I keep playing around with the HDMI cables but no good.

My specs are R5 1500x 8gb rx580 8gb.

This morning I turned it on i saw blurry (reddish pink squares and lines) startup screen then monitor went back to no signal. Is this a cable issue or has my video card died?

  • possibly
if you can try to remove video card and see if display works in onboard video card

    • I don't think I have onboard video. Ryzen 1500x doesn't come with it.

  • +1

Connect your PC to your TV and if that works then your monitor is cactus.
If not then the video card is.
    Cheers

    • I just plugged my PC to the TV. It works. Guess I'm chucking my LG Ultrawide monitor in the bin!

I was gonna go down the road to my local MSY shop to throw the video card in the guy's face, you saved me from doing that :)

Thanks for your advice man much appreciated.

      • Do you have a digital TV set top box to test the monitor? Maybe borrow one from someone.

      • Let me know which bin you throw it into!

Seriously though, did you use the same cable to connect to the TV? If it's the same cable, it could be a dodgy cable.

        • Used the same cable and it worked on the 50 inch Bauhn FHD TV that i had in the spare room. the resolution on that tv is so shit but it'll be okay until I get a new monitor.

          • @alz: make sure your monitor isn't on HDMI or something when it's supposed to be on displayport, dvi etc.

  • Did you try turning it off and on again?

Jokes aside, my good old asus vg248qe wouldn't detect a DVI signal from my PC and unplugging it for a moment or two wasn't enough (to power cycle).

Googled and sure enough I still had to power cycle my monitor, this time completely by making sure the LED in the power button completely discharged (by watching it dim and completely turn off).

  • Gfx card could be loose. Try opening the case see if the card is sitting in the motherboard properly.

  • Is your monitor on the wrong source or input by any chance?
