[XB1, PS4, PC] Free Steep's Japan Map (Redeem from in-Game Store) @ Ubisoft

880

Enjoy :)

Steep is bringing Japan to everyone who already owns the base game thanks to the new Japan ticket, which grants permanent free access to the map. From now until June 17 at 5AM PDT, Steep players on PS4, Xbox One, and PC will be able to visit the in-game store and redeem the Japan ticket for zero Steep credits.

    Sweet! Cheers OP.
Very under-rated game. Great fun if you have a couple mates to play with

  • Just started this game (which I bought ages ago from a deal here … never got into it as the controls are just too much for me - would love some easy skiing through the fantastic landscape (Horizon 4 on skies).
Realized I needed to create a UBISOFT account to play the game now (how do I love this … was working without beforehand) and can't find that store to "purchase" the map … found a rewards section with some free items (such as 10 free Helicopter rides) … but no Japan map (XBOX One)

Redeem from the in-game store not the rewards section according to the article. 27GB game download via Uplay on PC, 11 hours on my slow 4Mb/s ADSL :-(

      • Haha … I am too stupid to find the in game store … started up and it started with the tutorial … maybe I need to finish that before I can find the store

        • Same here just fired it up on PS4, & I had to run through the tutorial & a couple events then the game ran through another intro sequence & after that the store was available via the options menu.

@vimfuego: Oh no … I need to play to get a deal :-). (I played through all that already once … but looks like this new UbiSoft account reset everything to start … not fun)

@mini_wombat: Yeah what a grind ;-), I unlocked it & am now laughing at myself cause I know I will NEVER PLAY enough of it to even use/get to the free Japan map.

  • The "Japan Ticket" can be purchased for ingame credit normally (credit earned by doing missions, not actual $), but it takes a while to get there.

    Great game though.

    • Wait, so the Japan and Korea maps can be obtained from a bit of grinding? Sold my new copy of Steep and bought the Road to the Olympics version because I figured I'd want the extra mountains…

Trying now to obtain the Japan ticket anyway just to have it digitally, but I can't seem to find it in the store (only shows 4 tickets: helicopter, base jump, sled, speed riding). Maybe because I have the Olympics version disc in?

      • Japan yes, Korea no. Says it has to be from the DLC.
        Go figure…

For me the Japan ticket was on the page you're describing, but was listed there for zero credits.

  • Does this remain yours forever. Even if you uninstall the game and decide to reinstall later on?

    • Yes

  • I've got Steep but not installed, do I need to install Steep to find / get the DLC?

    • +2

Yes you do. In game store only.

      • Thanks for letting me know mate.

And looks like you need to play a bit until you find the store … :-)

@mini_wombat: I installed the game. Played through the introduction. Then obtained the free Japan Map via the now available store.

To switch map using XB1 controller. Press and hold B to bring up mountain view. Press RB to display travel maps. Then left or right on D pad to scroll through the available maps. Then press A to travel to that mountain.

I finally finished downloading the game on PC. Guess what… going into the in-game store (shift+f2) just displays "the ubisoft store is currently unavailable". But the in-game browser works just fine 🙄
EDIT: I found it! It's an actual in-game menu. Finish the tutorial and after the explanation video about the XP system/leveling up, you can 'travel' and from there unlock the DLC.

  • in game store (browser for ubisoft store?) says ubisoft store is currently unavailable….

    Thanks
