Does CommBank Have Complimentary Health Insurance for Customers??

My uncle was trying to tell me that he gets free health insurance (even when travelling) because he is a customer and has lots of shares with the CBA.

I can't imagine this is right but keen to understand if I'm wrong?

(Also as a follow up….if they do….would you imagine that protecting your health is in their interest given if you die, your money would be given to your children, and in so, the bank would loose your money?)

Thanks kindly
L

I think he's referring to travel insurance. I have access to this also as a CBA customer.

    • Is this only for travel paid for using a credit card? Or just a standard offering by them?

With mine, I do not need to spend anything on the credit card in order to activate it. It's just a matter of logging into NetBank and there is a section for it where you log your trip dates and destinations and then it issues you the policy on the spot.

          Tyvm @sTon3r !!
          Much appreciated.

          • @Lv80: Most credit card travel insurance policies are regarded as junk so read T&C's carefully!!

    • Thanks. Obviously he's mixing up travel with health. Kinda the same but different if ya get me. Thanks!

      • They are not even remotely the same.
Just one example: try explaining to the ATO that you do not have to pay the MLS because you get complimentary travel insurance.

        • Yup agreed. Very different things there. However MLS is different to optional insurance. This was more on optional insurances offered by the CBA.

Commonwealth Bank has an affiliated health fund called CBHS

This is for staff, ex staff and family.

Given that it is cheaper than many other health funds BUT its not free for staff etc, I doubt very much if shareholders would get access to this for free when staff have to pay.

Maybe your Uncle needs a dementia test
