I'm trying to sign up to the WeChat app so I can talk to my friend overseas but before WeChat allows me to activate my account I need someone from the same country (Australia) to scan the QR code the app gives me as a security check, and the account assisting me has to be older than 1 month.
Is there anyone that can help me please? I've tried asking everyone I know in real life and no one has WeChat :(

It has to be QR scanned in a 5 min window ; I'ved pm'ed you my data sim number to mms/sms me on
Is this a new security check? I don't recall ever having to do this when I signed up for WeChat
Yeah I was surprised too, I don't understand why they have made it so difficult. Honestly if I didn't have ozbargain to ask I was just going to give up on it because there's no other way around it besides linking my Facebook to WeChat, and I don't wanna do that
