    • i just ordered it, so I'll let you know to

      • thanks too!

    • +1

there are all updated i think, cause my phone was updated to

  • is rooting the phone illegal? and if not, can i do it since it is a telstra phone?

    • rooting is not possible on 2.2 so i am pretty dissapointed they updated it without asking, basically took away something that they shouldnt have.
Rooting may void the warranty but i think there are ways to unroot it.
Bad news is we can't do anything with it now.

      • Guys, We didn't update the phones to 2.2, I am assuming because this stock was very new that it was done back at supplier HQ. Hope you are all enjoying your phone and I look forward to bringing you a new great deal soon. Any ideas for what should come next?

        • it is advertised as eclair 2.1 on your website, i guess you should update this information.

  • IF i update the phone in the future, when the new firmware is released for example, will the phone re-lock it self?
same for restoring the phone to factory settings and rooting the phone

    • +1

no, as far as i know locking is independent of the firmware (even if it's released by telstra).

But I can say for certain that resetting the phone won't put network lock back on.

  • Hi guys, ordered one on Sunday & paid the extra for postage insurance. How long did it take for some of you to receive your phones? & are you happy with your purchase? Thanks

    • hello i ordered on the friday evening and recieved it tuesday so it was very prompt with shipping. I was very happy with the service provided, but was dissapointed to find it came preloaded with 2.2.1 (as per comments above). This basically means you're stuck with all the telstra apps/branding as the firmware cannot be rooted.

Overall for the money, i think this is one of the best android phones available, it has excellent build quality (as do most HTC phones), supports flash lite (so more or less all flash websites will work, this is always missing in android handsets in this price bracket e.g the lg optimus one) and ofcourse you get htc sense which for me is great.

The only downside is the screen res but i think unless you are comparing side by side with a high end handset you will get used to it very quickly. I also have not had any issues with apps i need not working due to the resolution. I think most apps now support the lower resolution.

Overall I'm happy with the purchase, higher res screen would have made it perfect but for the price point i'm not too stressed!

      • Thanks. I got an email later today that it has been shipped. Hopefully get it tomorrow or day after.

        • Phone arrived today. Great little phone. Only concern I have just like others here is why was the box seal broken & phone upgraded to 2.2.1? Apart from that the phone more than me my expectations.

        • i actually found some reviews online stating that the newer wildfires come preloaded with 2.2.1, i guess that leaves unlocking as the only reason why they had to open the box (which i've read they have done in some of their other unlocked phone deals)

  • Damn it, missed out on this price offer!, cant wait for the next one (the old man wants a new phone).

Is deal closed now? Just ordered one but not at special price n has to pay delivery…can unique phone do something PLEASE??? TY!!!

  • Good find, but i bought one of these and needed to return it:
    * Opened box, appearance as if it had been used (is manually unlocked by Unique Mobiles)
    * Massive issue with the phone accessing old text logs and randomly sending them to old recitipents (used $50 of credit in the process ~ apparently HTC said its a known issue with tihs handset weother soft or hardware caused when trying to transfer files using bluetooth with another device)
    * Sometimes restarts/boots up in "boot mode"

Still waiting on word to see if they are going to give me a refund, as i want a NEW phone that has not been played with first, if it needs to be unlocked, the procedure can just be given out when the item is shipped…

  • This is my first post, but I've been a silent observer for a while here. I missed this HTC Wildfire deal and had been very diligent checking for deals elsewhere. So I thought I share this with those who are still looking for what I feel is an interesting deal since uniquemobiles have not come up with another deal on the HTC Wildfire since.

On sale, from 11 july to 7 Aug, the Telstra HTC Wildfire is on sale at only $159.20.Someone posted that it costs only $30 to get it unlocked at the shops or online. So this might still be an alternative reasonable deal.

    What do you think? Thanks.
