Anyone who knows about mechanics/cars/science etc - Fuel Saver

Not putting this as a bargain as their effectiveness is probably questionable.
Anyone used any of these?
Does the science of it make sense?
Is it just a con?

Your car's electrical system components are interconnected. For superior performance, they must have a clean electrical circuit environment in your car. Many cars develop electrical imbalances over time due to the power demands made by various accessories and normal wear on batteries, spark plugs and other parts.

With a stable voltage environment, your car will run better, allowing better fuel efficiency, and longer battery life. The Fuel Saver is a multi-purpose voltage stabilizer that provides just that environment. Fuel Saver's worldwide patent pending design instantly stabilizes your car's electrical system, resulting in better fuel efficiency and overall performance. By stabilizing your car's electrical system, your engine's spark plugs deliver a strong, even spark, resulting in better combustion. This more complete combustion increases power and results in cleaner emissions.

This revolutionary technology provides consumers with an inexpensive way to save money at the gas pump and help our environment at the same time. Just plug the Fuel Saver into you car's lighter adapter and start saving today!

    it's a con

Yeah, con. To make it worse they have this kinda crap on ACA and TT.

If a $7 gadget could make your car run better I'm pretty sure car manufacturers would include this in every build.

    • having a few mates that work in the car industry… after that comment you'd be extreamly surprised.

    Absolute bollocks..
If a $7.95 device could offer any measurable benefit, car manufacturers would be installing them as standard equipment and using it as a selling point.
Don't be surprised to find a circuit board with just a step-down voltage converter and LED inside the Blue plastic shell!

  • Don't be too skeptical guys, that device does plug into the car's most critical system…not the fuel or the ignition systems…the cigarette lighter socket! :p

    • +2

yeah, It makes the car lighter. therefore there is less downward force. therefore the engine doesn't have to work as hard and therefore uses less fuel.

      • Now that's science at work! Dr Karl would be proud. :)

      • paradox since it also decreases tire surface area which AFAIK means less grip. Think of it as a car on ice, less grip goes slower. Hence requires more fuel to run engine for longer.

        Problem physics?

  • It saves you money on petrol, because you now have $9.90 less to spend on fuel.

It's amazing that Dept Of Fair Trading / ACCC doesn't get onto these shonky products, like they did with the Power Balance bracelets.

  • Just browsing over the science… Yeah, it's full of shit. There's no way you can improve the performance of your car through the electrical system.

It's basically snake oil for a car.

yea pretty much thought it was crap but wanted confirmation.

  • YAWN! so what's new?!
and just like petrol drive offs, everytime the price of petrol goes up, the number of unknown inventors with "revolutionary" new fuel saving gadgets goes up!
wanna know how to really save petrol 100% guaranteed? walk instead of driving to the local shops now and then!

  • I bet they found a few old cars that benefited from this and used that to sell it to the public.

    My guess?

The cars drew 12V @ 1 amp constantly when nothing is plugged into it, by plugging in a 12V @ 0 amp device you are saving fuel.

But if I was right it would only work on cars with this stupid flaw.

phwoar! coupled with a brock energy polariser, your car will be unstoppable!

    • +1

Just don't cross the streams! ;)

      • unless it is installed in parallel with a flux capacitor.

  • just whatever you do dont get one of these,
basically the same idea but works in reverse, makes you use fuel instead of save it.

they will ruin your fuel consumption!!!

  • I found turning the ignition key anticlockwise and then getting out of the car and walking or riding my bike or catching public transport saved me the most fuel.

Last week, I saved $5 by walking home from work, instead of catching the bus.

Yesterday, I saved $30 because I decided to walk home from work rather than catching a taxi.

    • you don't want to know how much I saved by skipping the private helicopter.

      • +3

i saved even more money by not even going to work!

        • LUXURY !!!!!
