Great price. I was waiting and waiting, but then went for a Nikon Z6. Both great cameras.

how do you think the z6 compares?

I had a Sony A7S for years and it served me well. I mainly shoot video, so the Sony was a nice stock footage camera or a B-camera. I sold that but got bored waiting for the A7SIII, so went for the Nikon. I like the way Nikon does 10-bit UHD into an Atomos Ninja V recorder. The results are stunning and a leap over the 8-bit Sony. The lens range in Nikon Z is a bit limited. I bought the Z6 from JB's last week and it came with a very nice 24-70 F4 kits lens, reader, card and FTX adaptor. The Z6 gets RAW 12-bit video soon (with a Ninja) so I'll stick with Nikon until the A7S3 comes along.

was that the z6+lens deal for 3k - good deal that

I have a GH5 and love it but really take more photos, particularly sports so I want the full frame for lower light conditions. However the a9ii is coming out in September so thinking of waiting and picking up a a9 for alot cheaper than they currently are.

@iamnewtothis: Yes it was $2,888 with the JB newsletter voucher. I’ve had a few GH1’s but really prefer full frame these days. The A7S3 should be the mirrorless king when it launches.

Reeeeally want sub $2000. Will it happen again? Tempted…

    •

I reckon we'll see a sub 2000 deal again at eofy ebay sale.

      •

I'm happy to wait as I also go away Aug 29 - TRS cutoff is June 30… haha!

To those at the tax office, it's a wedding gift…

if you have 28 degree mc or a cc with price protection you could just buy it now?

Realistically Im sure cashrewards has another 12% cb on amazon coming up again soon. So theres that.

And yeahhh I'm done with the days of dodgy TRS. Mate gone done with claiming engagement ring lol. He was just too honest.

            @Jimmy Wong: Curious..

If your mate proposed to her whilst over seas it would have been okay I assume? I'm a numb nut as I didn't even think to claim because I had so many other things on my mind before I proposed to my now wife whilst we were in Italy.

Was only when my mate (who is a detective, assuming they know the law better than most!) asked if I had claimed the TRS to which my draw dropped and realise how much I could have … always wondered if there are any grey areas to this as I am not retuning with the engagement ring, my fiancé (now wife) did.

What makes you excited about the Tamron 17-28mm?

    • +3 votes

Their previous lens, the 28-75mm got great reviews and was praised for being cheap while maintaining good optical quality. OP is probably hoping this will be the case for the 17-28mm.

    •

I got a portrait lens so looking for a landscape one. Tamron 17-28mm will be a good fit from cost perspective.

  •

Thx OP !! finally, it's happened … ordered one straight away … don't forget cashrewards with a little bit extra…

  •

    Ordered. Thank you.

  •

Holding off for sub $2k ….. Great deal anyway.
