[PS4] Torment: Tides of Numenera $5 @ JB Hi-Fi

151

Seems like a good deal. It's an RPG game that focuses more on story rather than combat. Graphics aren't amazing but not bad.

$65 on steam - reviews here https://store.steampowered.com/app/272270/Torment_Tides_of_N…

You are born falling from orbit, a new mind in a body once occupied by the Changing God, a being who has cheated death for millennia. If you survive, your journey through the Ninth World will only get stranger… and deadlier.

With a host of strange companions – whose motives and goals may help or harm you – you must escape an ancient, unstoppable creature called the Sorrow and answer the question that defines your existence: What does one life matter?

Torment: Tides of Numenera is the thematic successor to Planescape: Torment, one of the most critically acclaimed and beloved role-playing games of all time. Torment: Tides of Numenera is a single-player, isometric, narrative-driven role-playing game set in Monte Cook’s Numenera universe, and brought to you by the creative team behind Planescape: Torment and the award-winning Wasteland 2.

  • Nice find…

Taken by some to be the spiritual successor to Planescape: Torment.

    • +1

Is Planescape: Torment available on PS4?

edit: Skybound Games, a division of Skybound Entertainment, plans to release Beamdog's remastered version to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on September 24, 2019.

    • What do you mean? It is the literal successor to Planescape: Torment.

      • Yet the story, the universe and the gameplay mechanics are not linked. Only a theme is shared of rebirth of a new identity.

  • Step 1: Buy game.
Step 2: Do the receipt deal.
Step 3: Have game and 10 more dollars (of JB money) than you started with.
Step 4: Finally trade the game when you get bored of it, more profit.

    This is good deal, yes.

    • I got mine for free with Evil Within PS4 ($9) using the $15 digital receipt credit :D

  • +2

I have an unopened copy I picked up from EB for $9.

So this is what it feels like. Feels bad man.

    • +3

nice one if you can find stock

    • +2

You're negging the deal for $1 less. You for reals bro?

      • +3

        That's 20% cheaper!

      • +3

It comes with a physical map and soundtrack. Definitely more than $1 worth.

        • +1

Oh, in that case it's different and a better deal. If there's stock. :|

    • almost bought this and after checking my order history, just realized that I've bought 2 @$4 from EB before :D

  • Great game. I preferred this over Pillars of Eternity.

Haven't finished yet, but found this more engaging.

The combat is nothing to write home about. Much like Planescape: Torment, it's more about the story.

My only question is how does this play on PS4? I can't imagine playing an isometric RPG using a console controller…

    • I have it on PC and XBox, I completed it on XBox. It does work just fine.

Though as for the game, I forgot I completed, even seeing this post didn't trigger it, I was trying think of where I stopped playing and realised I finished it. It isn't that great unfortunately.
