Domino's Rips You off if You Swap Toppings?

I ordered 3x loaded pepperoni pizzas, and swapped the pepperoni for pork and fennel sausage/italian sausage on two of them.

The pepperoni pizza came with 30+ slices easily (looked more like 40) but the other two pizzas had about 20 toppings on each. For some reason, they didnt include the same amount of toppings.

Anyone else noticed this?

Edit : Called the store and the person whom I spoke to confirmed that if I do a topping change, I would get less toppings, but was very evasive and would not confirm if that was domino's policy or the store policy. But nowhere is it stated on the website that doing a toppings change would result in less toppings.

It says in the description of the loaded pepperoni 50% more pepperoni, so if you swap out pepperoni you won't get extra toppings lol

  • The camera quality control probably gets switched off for custom pizzas.

50% more of zero pepperoni is still zero

  • Even if it wasn't the 'loaded' pepperoni you still would have gotten less pieces because it's measured by weight.

    • Is pizza hut measured by weight aswell?

    • They weigh each pizza after it is made?

  • This has been the case for at least 10-15 years, before premium pizzas.

For example, a pepperoni pizza does not have 1x pepperoni, despite it only appearing as 1x topping when ordering.

If you remove all toppings and add 1x pepperoni, you will technically get barely anything, although I assume at this point the staff member realises and puts on the appropriate amount, but generally the idea is if its adding or swapping they give you a small amount.

The actual amount of toppings at dominos is very small generally.

The only way around this I'm assuming is the design your own pizza thing.

    • I mean, logically speaking the staff member should know that if you are supposed to put, for example, 30x pepperoni on a pepperoni pizza, then you should put the same amount of toppings if someone does a topping swap. I don't get why someone would go "oh, it's a different topping, time to use less!".

      • They don't do that because then you could have a pepperoni pizza full of prawns instead for $5.

So yes, "its a different topping, use less!" is true.

        • But you cant have a pepperoni pizza full of prawns without paying more. Pepperoni is $2 per topping, prawns are $3 and there is an extra charge for topping swaps on value pizzas. Only traditional and above gets 2 free topping swaps. So you end up paying the same price as a traditional or premium pizza anyway.
