    Just be weary of the actual savings to be had.

    The introductory price of this couch was around $1,800 or $1,900 back in December 2018.

    It then went up to $2,200 - $2,400 in 2019, and then about a month ago was at $2,799, and now their site says "was $2,999" with the sale price of $2,249.

    Chances are if you like something and need to buy it, you'll probably end up buying at whatever price it may be as long as it's within your price range. But these are shady tactics that I sure as hell can't ignore. Glad I found something cheaper that I actually consider more comfortable and better looking elsewhere.

      spot on with furniture and white goods. Sales don't really tempt you to buy because I won't be needing a second couch or washing machine. If the price is fair for the quality/bracket it is in, people will buy it regardless if they need it.

    • Thanks for the caution. I'm looking to buy a couch in next couple of weeks. Any recommended/reliable shops in Melbourne to buy from?

    • How can I know what price an item was previously?

      No doubt prices have been inflated for this sale, but I have been looking at that exact couch since Christmas 2018, and price was always $2,799, and then recently up to $2,999.

    @rohitcs:
    I don't know if there are any that don't engage in such tactics, but the couch I found elsewhere hasn't budged up or down since I found it, at Focus on Furniture, at the Springvale Home maker centre (IKEA). Heaps of furniture places in one building. Hope you can find something you like. (Mods, please remove store name if this isn't allowed, just trying to help!)

    @tightwad:
    I only know because I had my mind set on the above linked couch for months until the price kept going up and up and I shopped around again. So my price history is thanks to my head/shopping spreadsheet.

    Edit: My posting skills are non-existent today.

    • Thanks. Not on price hipster.

      A lot of the bigger items are not in stock. Need to wait 6-7 weeks. Nice way to have good cash flow is to make on demand and hold your customer's money!

    I am really happy about this. I was about to buy a desk last week, and did a search on OzBargain. I saw that they had an EOFY sale last year so I waited a week and now I am saving $137.

  • Also the office https://www.amartfurniture.com.au/silverwood-57005/

    Where i purchase in Nov for $999 with the chair. now its $1,424

    • That's a package. Did you get the package for $999 or just a desk and chair?

      • I got the desk and chair for $999

        • So apples and oranges then?

  • Not a massive fan of the quality or range at Amart, but we bought a couch set a while ago and are fairly happy with it.
    Don't forget you can get Discounted e-gift cards for Amart through Suncorp and others. Saved us another $80 last time…

    • Is that only for Suncorp customers?

    • Would like to more on this.. anyway of getting further discount?

  • Is there anyway to find out old prices to make sure they're not jacked ??

    • I want Cita King Bedroom suite, "was 1999" BUT WAS IT REALLY ?????

  • I actually found genuine savings. Was monitoring bunk beds and mattresses and they have dropped in prices.
