Ute/Truck hire. Brisbane (western suburbs)

Need to hire a ute or a truck to move house. Will be doing all the lifting myself, so not after moving guys, just the vehicle.

Moving from Bellbowrie to Indooroopilly, but am prepared to drive outside of this area to get the truck.

Currently have got a quote from Budget rental, pickup at Rocklea, Toyota Hilux or similar, air con, 1 tonne, $55/day. 100km.

There's a Caltex at Kenmore which is an agent for EuropeCar, so i'm going to check their prices out.

Any other suggestions?

  • Do yourself a favour, if you have any appreciable amount of stuff to move…particularly heavy stuff like whitegoods, pony up the little extra & get a small pantech truck with a hydraulic lifter on the back…best money you'll spend on your back in years! :)

And go to Supercheap Auto & buy yourself a hand trolley, they're about $20 for a basic one & are invaluable…if you're moving to a place with plenty of stairs though, again pony up a few more bucks for a tri-wheel unit with a securing strap…absolute gold!!! ;)

There's usually discounted rates for NRMA/RACQ members as well at many rental companys IIRC! :)

  • Thanks Stew, but i don't have white goods, or lounge, or dining table. My queen matteress is the most cumbersome item, as long as i can take apart my ikea bed, and ikea shelves.

My work has a tri-wheel trolley, i'll ask if i can borrow it for the weekend.

I ended up booking with Europcar, got a $24 discount with a coupon code. From $79 to $55 for the base rate, for a ute with automatic transmission (i require this, they are about $20 more usually, and harder to find).

Got Wheel, Windscreen, and headlight cover for an extra $7. With admin fees, it worked out to $70. Happy days.
