I am still hoping another Amazon deal on their prime day for $79.99 bags for ON 10 LBs

    • When is prime day? Loved the $80 deal

      • Usually in the second week of July.

        • Oh cool. Fingers crossed

      • 15th July for this year

    • I’m still getting through my last $79 deal bag

    • That deal was the reason i joined Prime, and I haven't come across great deals like the ones back then.

    • It's today, and the protein in onsale for $89.

      • Do you mean for the 10lbs? I must be slow today and can't find it. Any chance of a link?

        Thanks

  • Also get a free shaker.

    • And free magazine

      • Was about to edit my comment because it's already in the OP.

  • ordered thanks op

Why this over Bulk Nutrients 5kg for $90?

    • +2

Tbh, I'd rather go the BN 5x1kg and get various flavours than be stuck with the one flavour.

To answer your question, I think the optimum nutrition mixes much more easily than BN. Can't think of much else though.

I buy both, but usually stick to either the 900g or 1.5kg ON tubs.

    • +1

Isn't $90 for WPC? BN sells WPI for $150.

      • +1

Yeah but ON pulls a sneaky marketing stunt by having "whey protein isolate - primary source" on front of the label. It's actually a protein mix not wpi if you look at the ingredients, so comparing this to WPI prices is more of an apples to oranges situation. You'll notice it has 2g of carbs in it, any good quality pure wpi powder has close to zero carbs.

        • That is true and how most mixes are, but saying that you cant compare it to WPC either, its in between.

  • Anyway this can be done with https://www.suppsrus.com.au/optimum-nutrition-gold-standard-… + 12 the protein stix?

    • I'm not getting the 12 protein stix added automatically to my cart. Am I doing something wrong?

  • Paid around the same from yesterday ebay sales, no freebies though.Had been waiting and waiting for Amazon to come up with some deal. Finally after I had my last scoop so had to get sooner :(

  • wait or not?

  • Noob question. Is this protein shake good for losing weight? With regular light gym/exercise and normal diet? (Just like "The man shakes" that are available out there?)

    • +9

Adding protein to your diet will help build muscle (with proper exercise at the right intensity) and stave off hunger/increase satiation between meals - both very good things for fat loss, but protein won't directly cause you to lose weight.

Buy protein powders with high percentage of protein content per serving, try to look past any 'manliness' marketing.

        Thanks for your reply

        • +3

Extending on what usher has said:

If you look at the ingredients of many of the shakes out there for 'weight loss', they often do not have much beyond what is in a good quality protein shake. That's because protein is the key, actually well-validated ingredient in their weight loss management effect.

Increased protein consumption is one of the best ways to lose weight and maintain weight loss.
          https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/25926512
          https://www.nature.com/articles/0802461.pdf?origin=ppub

There are certainly other options for weight loss out there, but few have the quantity of research from well-respected research publications that a high protein diet does.

          Totally subjective:
The only way I've consistently lost weight was to do a weights routine (3 times a week; 45-50 minutes), then drink a protein shake (Optimum was my go to) after, so I didn't eat everything in the house.

@Raif: Cheers, thanks for your detailed reply.

  • haha i work there! We do random deals like this all the time. ON whey is so notably better tasting than Bulk nutrients IMO

    • Would you recommend this by any chance for a first-time buyer of protein?

      • +3

don't buy 4.5kg of protein if you're a first time buyer

      • 100% get the extreme milk chocolate flavour and mix with about 200ml water and it literally tastes like a chocolate milkshake.

      • Honestly, they're all very similar. Just comes down to price, personal preference of flavours and macronutrients. I've just bulk nutrients in the past and just got over it. Cellucor whey is my 2nd favourite, to each their own

    • I like the taste of both ON and Bulk Nutrients but I find your comment a bit funny, coz you can only sell ON…. I would NOT say ON is notably better in flavour, in fact I personally find BN has nicer flavours, they just don't mix as easily as ON, but they mix fine.

Seems like you are just trying to sell something rather than help.

      • Definitely didn't come here to give anyone tips about protein. Just came to say we do alot of specials and deals at our place. Completely up to you if you wanna buy ON or bulk nutrients, I'm just saying I found ON more enjoyable

      • Having been using protein powders for 20 years. They have come a long way in terms of mixability and flavour. I find the US brands still better for both over the Australian brands. But the Aussie brands are usually a bit cheaper and generally the aussie and nz dairy and proteins are better quality although that is changing since nowadays alot of the aussie brands end up using US dairy for cheaper protein anyway. I think the nz protein is getting more and more pricey.

    • Probably a bad idea to comment here now that I'm gonna annoy you but

Can you help me get this promo? I can't seem to be able to replicate it, PM me if it's easier

      • +1

Just use the code SRUEOFY at the checkout screen, make sure youre logged in and it should work 👌

Good deal great timing thanx! Love vanilla ice cream with milk… tastes like an actual milkshake

    • Vanilla for the win. Add it into a blender with some frozen banana/milk/oats etc. Have that on the daily. Never get sick of it.

  • Any idea on expiry dates of these packs?

    • Would keep for atleast a year, 18 months perhaps. I had a few samples sitting in my room for a couple years and although they looked and smelt fine they lost most of their mixability

Its $99.97 everyday price for chocolate at Costco. Sometimes they have coupons for $10 off as well.

I hate the taste of whey protein but I can independently vouch this tastes pretty damn good!

    • +4

No it's not. Costco only stocks tne 2.3kg bags, and those are $99. These are 4.5kg bags.

      • +1

I stand corrected. Man that's pretty good value.

        • All good. I didn't neg you btw.

  • How does this compare to Bulk Nutrients in value?

    • BN sells their WPI for $150/5KG. ON seems to have a great rep for their taste. My opinion is BN is good but doesn't compare to the big US branded proteins (ON included) on taste.

aswell as BN being difficult to shake (I gave up and blend mine in a 30$ blender I picked up from Kmart)

If you care about money WPC from BN seems to be the best bang for your buck. But if you don't mind spending abit extra I would grab this, or like others have said you can try wait and hope Amazon have another sale on this and get a better discount in July

      • +1

[As I said in an earlier comment but reposting for visibility]. The ON is actually a protein mix not wpi if you look at the ingredients, so comparing this to WPI prices is more of an apples to oranges situation. ON pulls a sneaky marketing stunt by having "whey protein isolate - primary source" on front of the label. So price wise you should compare this moreso to the BN WPC not WPI.

  • +1

What's the expiry date? I've had experiences where things like this are discounted as they are due to expire soon

    • They have a live chat option. I would ask there but I don’t think they sell anything less than 6 months unless they advertise the expiry date

  • Anyone know any quality protein powders without the artificial flavours in the ingredients?

Edit: Just saw ON plant protein which has a pretty good nutritional profile and no strange ingredients. Any thoughts on this? I'm not vegan or vegetarian but I was curious.

    • Anyone know any quality protein powders without the artificial flavours in the ingredients?

Yep, BN Raw WPC is quite good. I just bought my second batch of this. Mixes well with a bit of natural vanilla flavour essence added in at the end, or just plain raw is fine too:

https://www.bulknutrients.com.au/products/whey-protein-conce… (Select RAW/Unflavoured - From the website: Raw (Unflavoured) contains zero sweeteners or flavourings.)

      • +1

        thank you!!

I'm getting cake bites (unknown flavour) and Supps R Us shaker not an ON one in my cart?

  • Great post, just getting back to the gym after a few years and was hunting for a good protein. I used to use ON Hydrowhey ( hydrolyzed protein) but found out they don't stock that in Australia any one. Would this be the closest or could anyone recommend something similar? Also can't seem to get the protein stix instead am getting protein cakes, possible to get the stix instead please?

    • Rule1 Protein does a WPI and Hydrolyzed mix that a guy at work recommends, its expensive though

  • +1

Very slow shipping this time round. Ordered on Monday and told it won’t be delivered until next Thursday.

  • Any new deals on Protein Powder?
