eBay 99c Mega Deals of June 2019

For the privileged amongst us, our 99c Mega Deals are starting to arrive in the post. It was a morning that will surely go down as a highlight of our OzBargain careers. Feel free to share your thoughts.

First in line for me is the Trek Powerbank. The unit itself did look a bit marked up, but these mostly came off with a bit of a rub. Perhaps it is just par for the course with the soft touch material. It was dead flat, so a 4 hour charge is underway. I wanted to highlight that the 5 year warranty requires that you REGISTER AT www.myefm.com/register WITHIN 14 DAYS. Without this step you will be looking at a 2 year warranty.

Package number 2 just arrived… Pip Pip!

  • The Stone Magic frying pans were 99c.

I refuse to believe this isn't a Teflon coated pan with a splattering of white paint under it. I'm no forensic scientist, but it looks mighty like you can see the direction that it was sprayed from and the cracking enamel paint drops. I'd love to hear some comments from people who can compare it to other 'Stone' coated pans. Maybe this is what they look like. There is no bragging about an absence of PFOE or PFOA, so I'll be treating it like a normal Teflon pan (not going nuts with the high heat).

Oh, and check out one of my chrome handle pieces…

Amazon reviews for this item seem mostly positive for the cooking surface, but super bad for the handles ability to stay tight. Loctite seems to be the go-to solution if that becomes an issue for anyone.

    On to package number 3.

    • Mad props to K.G. Electronic, they responded within a few minutes and are sending a replacement.

  • Got the BT speaker and electric toothbrush.

I'm no audiophile but it seems that the lows/lower-end and bass are difficult to make out sometimes (could be some tracks are not as suitable to play through BT speakers)? Other than that it's pretty good. Semi-lightweight and it comes with a 20cm micro USB cable as well as one of those closable hook things that you can clip onto a bag or something. The only thing I can complain about is the volume control at a particular distance from you will be either too loud or soft, so you got to adjust the distance (or it might be just me huh).

Waiting on the toothbrush. It is going to be my transition to an electric one, quite keen!

    • I'm pretty bummed that the speaker plays a LOUD tone when turning on or off. Marley confirmed it can't be turned off. Kinda kills the device as a bed-side, have playing when I'm going to sleep speaker.

Not bad audio for punchy music. I do like that it shuts itself off automatically after a while of no audio. It also auto pairs nicely. I do find it a bit muffled for speech/podcasts, which is my use case 99% of the time. It's usable though.

  • Toothbrush arrived today, still waiting on the race car set and kids clothes!

  • Frypan and Bluetooth speaker arrived on Monday. Sodastream, body shop set and Sony XM3 arrived today.

  • If anyone is wondering why their battery pack is charging their device so slowly, don't use the supplied cable for charging your device. It is only capable of carrying 500mA, which is perhaps the speed the unit recharges itself. The power bank can (and does) deliver 2A to your device with a capable cable.

My phone was barely charging faster than the phone was draining power (+80mA). With a better cable is now (+1100mA), so chooching along almost as quickly as a 2A wall wart.

A good reminder to check the capability of my other cables.

    • I've charged 40% of my phone and used 2 of 4 capacity lights on the battery pack. This does not bode well.

      • If anyone is ever wondering how the battery pack rates, I am able to get 2 full charges with my phone turned off & just barely 1 full charge with it turned on.

I never really thought about it when using a wall charger, but most phones consume about 400mA at idle, so turning it off really boosts the charge rate and drops the charge time (by as much as 4x-5x when charging with a 500mA charger).

Not a bad device and will come in handy.
