Is It Worth It Upgrading My Pocket Wi-Fi Modem?

I dont have landline internet available for the time being so i'm using 4g broadband.
I was with optus, but as of today i signed up with Ovo because they offer more data.

I am using the Huawei E5573 pocket wifi modem. Internet gets slow when we get connected, if my phone uploads photos the network is pretty much dead. Was happening with Optus, still happens with Ovo.

Do you guys think it's the modem's limitation or it's just network congestion?
Should i invest in something better to distribute the 4g connection to my home?

It's not really bad and i have a very good reception where i live, im pretty happy but why not make things better? Maybe i can even possibly start downloading stuff through usenet etc

Only me and my wife use the internet but i also have many devices constantly connected (2 smart led strips, Xbox, TV, Laptop)

probably best to use something like this: TP-Link TL-MR6400 300Mbps Wireless Router - 3G/4G LTE Compatible or netgear brand. Might be faster and more reliable.

    • Will it accept the sim right away or should I plug the pocket wifi into it?

there is slim slot where you can insert your sim card. and off you go.

        • thank you, i bought a used tp link mr200 for 90$ from ebay.

          • @nikoris: Did it solve your problem? Just asking as I'm considering doing the same :)

@King Splendor: yes, network was much better
              Where are you located?

              • @nikoris: Thanks for that!

I'm out in the country, but looking for a better option as I'm having trouble with my wifi modems.

Mobile phones give good mobile data performance these days… just get a cheap 4G phone from the supermarket deals and use the hotspot feature on that. One of the benefits of having a dual sim phone these days… just pop in a cheap sim for the data.

First question to solve is whether it's your wifi modem coverage issues. You may want to try moving to different part of house. Also try if it makes a difference inside and outside. If no problems continue reading below…

Consumer wifi devices ain't very good with multiple devices connnected. Try reducing the number of devices connected to see if makes a difference.

Then if above doesn't work then consider alternative modems.
