quick google the rrp is total bs, & vic basement $185+ shipping

    • Blades made from fully forged high-carbon stainless steel.

What grade is the steel? That sounds like marketing nonsense to me, all tool/knife steel is high carbon.

    • Yes, it's marketing nonsense. Mundial are relatively soft which makes them easy to sharpen but won't hold an edge as sharp or as long as harder steels. Some people are happy with them, I had a set for years when I first moved out of home and didn't know any better.

I've owned these and global. I owned these first and tried a global some years later and it was a revelation. I bought a global on the same day.

Exactly the same, gone from some old mundials to globals and no chance I can recommend the mundial's to anyone anymore considering how close the Global's are on price. Just a Wüsthof knock off I reckon.

They're not bad, and I think I got mine quite close to 120 or so years back. They are soft compared to others but I find them easy to sharpen. Quite good so long as you keep the edge. I haven't had one snap, unlike Furi. I have the mundial cleaver and that's a wonder with tough meat. It was the easy to sharpen that put me on to them in the first place.

Also, never put them in the dishwasher. The rivets are aluminium or something and they surface corrode a bit. Likewise the scissors seem to have a non-stainless screw which means it can rust if immersed in water, especially salty.

Out of curiosity though, seeing as I've listed pros and cons here, how are the Globals in terms of longevity?

i went from mundial to global like others here, its been over 3 yrs and no issues with the globals, the steel is harder so it stays sharper much much longer, haven't had a snap, knives are pretty thick… then again i use a clever for chopping stuff with bone.

  • Hows the quality comparing to the wusthof classic ?

  • Does anyone really fall for this RRP bollox? If so please ID yourself so I can avoid you.

  • RRP $749 hahahahahahahahahaha

  • Top Tip: store knifes with blade up to reduce chance bluntening.
