Poor mans Phillips Hue, saw these on sale at the local Woolies, normally $17.
Not sure if this is nationwide or just the local store.

So all this does is change the colour temperature from white/blue to white/yellow to red via turning it off/on until it hits the one needed?

  Yes pretty much, we use it as a night light for the kids to get to the toilet, wouldn’t call it red though, just a very dim warm light

I got one that does cool white and warm white for a similar price. It works okay, but I should have bought this instead I think…

Description is excellent OP.

I think these are the ones we bought. They are great - you flick the switch to change the brightness of the lamp. It's like having a dimmer switch. You could use them like a normal globe because if you leave it for more than a a couple of seconds it doesn't switch through the brightness levels (just turns on and off).
