    Wouldn't open source be bad for something that's meant to be secure because then it's easier to find the exploits?

      A lot of cryptography is open source. By that definition, Internet would be insecure for a lot of things. Plus with open source, if you're technically minded, you can find out if they're doing bad things ie malware.
