Level 1/Level 2 Technical Support Job

I'm just wondering what past experiences/education does someone have to do to get one of these jobs.

If there are different requirements for level 1 and level 2 tech support jobs please let me know.

    How long is a piece of string?

    A quick google shows some basic definition with help desk here;

    So requirements and skill would vary from organisation to organisation.

    You can get a support job at an ISP with no training or qualifications beyond a clear telephone manner and a general familiarity with computers. These are entry level jobs.

      I see you keep posting very similar questions. Maybe you could be more forthcoming about what you have tried so far to get a job? It seems like you are just posting career questions when you have a thought bubble, and never trying any of the suggestions.
      It is not likely anyone on OzBargain will offer you a job as a result of these questions.

    Rough idea of how computers and printers work.

    so was thinking about getting a programming job. I saw helpdesk jobs dont require much experience compared to programming jobs and so it peaked my interest.
    Thanks everyone for your replies, even the tough love is valuable

      But can you reverse a binary tree?

      I work in IT. You are thinking about it the right way. You want to go for a job in a smaller company where they keep their dev in house (If they do any). Heaps of people start at the help desk and move into programming.

  • thanks man, just looking for a foot in the door, once i have some experience on my belt i'll be able to go for some higher level jobs, or maybe i'll really enjoy working at a help desk.

    • 'Enjoy' & helpdesk shouldn't be in the same sentence.
      Just keep applying there are always companies looking and you do have some skill in programming that might be useful for the company :D
