Koala mattress, Eva or zzzatelier

Koala mattress, Eva or zzzatelier??
1. Which is better?
2. Pros and cons of each?

Just a note – I prefer Latex mattresses

Thanks!

    1. Not sure you'll find many people who have both. There is no 'better' one. People prefer different ones for different reasons. I love our zzz but have never tried a koala.

    2. It's a personal thing.

  • I have both and prefer zzz atelier. Koala is bit too soft for liking. Again, it is a personal thing.

  • I'm also looking for peoples preferences, can't seem trust alot of the reviews on review sites for the mattress in a box sellers.
Does anyone have a mattress they recommend for side sleepers?

    • The reviews of the mattress in a box sellers are pretty much solid. Everybody loves them. I use cozybed as it's a latex/memory foam hybrid. It works GREAT.

      • +1

That's the trouble though, from what I can find online, these sellers incentivize good reviews by offering partial refunds, free pillows, sheets or toppers. I don't doubt that the products aren't quality and just think it's the consequence of so much competition, each of these MIAB companies have to one up each other.

Could you comment as to why you prefer a latex/memory foam mattress like the Cozybed as opposed to the Koala, Eva or ZZZatelier?

  • I originally bought Eva, a quality product but too soft for me and returned it. Have bought two zzzatelier because they are firmer. Son has also bought one.

    • Do you sleep on your back or side?

    • Would also like to know if you are a back, stomach or side sleeper
Is Eva good for side sleepers?

      • Mostly side, some back. Eva was way too soft for me, really bad sleep. I did the trial and sent it back (picked up for Salvos). You can always try Eva first to hedge your bets. Dealing with Eva is straightforward so don't worry about problems.

  • We have an Eva, happy with it. Got it because it spruiked edge support…it does have some, but it's not the best. Definitely better than a full foam mattress like Koala.

Have briefly laid? on a Koala.

    Have not tried a zzz.

    • Are you a side sleeper?

      • Unfortunately I usually fall asleep on my stomach and usually wake up on my back. Rarely on my side. :(

  • CHOICE rate the Koala highly but it is the only mattress in their review that tested as hard.

  • I had zzz and they are great, i am a back sleeper, the edge of this bed not great to sit on and i tend to fall off.

the edge of this bed not great to sit on and i tend to fall off.

      Are you a child?

  • Sounds like im going with zzzatelier! Thanks

  • If you like latex feel why not ergoflex?

  • Air mattress. I've been using a $17 air mattress for three months now. It's cooler, cheap as and I now wake up in much less pain.

Air pumps cost less than $20 or you can blow it up yourself like a boss!

    • Every time I've slept on an air mattress it's slowly deflated throughout the night. I can't imagine a $17 last's more than an hour without going flat.

      • I've inflated mine a little twice in the last three months, but you're right, they can often have tiny holes. The $200 self-inflating air mattress a mate bought spring holes within a week. They didn't get a refund as it was "too much effort".

I have zzz and whilst it was quite comfy to sleep on, the edge is too soft and you'll tend to be falling off the bed if seating near the edge, which is an issue for bedtime story

  • Merged from Question about ZZZAtelier & Expensive Hotel Mattresses
    1. What are the best mattresses - regardless of price?
    2. Is it true that the Hilton have mattresses that are $4,000+? I've heard their mattresses are from Sealy or Sleepmaker or something.
    3. Are these expensive mattresses worth it? Are they really good for your back - are they super comfy - or do they last longer? Why the hefty price?
    • Best mattress are ones that suit you ;)

That said, most of the larger hotel chains stock major brand bedding like as you said Sealy or Sleepmaker.

We spend a 60-80 nights a year in a hotel prior to Covid and the ones I prefer are pillow tops with pocket springs - we like the Heavenly Beds at Westins or the Wonderful Beds at W Hotels. We have these ones at home.

Is it better? I think so but I think it is just as important to have nice bedroom setting, inviting, warm, a place where you can truly relax - no phones, no ipads etc - maybe some essential oils so you can truly wind down and have a good nights rest. It's like buying a Ferrari and having to a nice garage to park it in, rather than on the streets ;)

    • Need to find a replacement for my ZZZ Atelier also, but I know there are huge markups on mattresses and don't really want to spend thousands if I can avoid it. I do want a good quality mattress though, if anyone has any recommendations or spotted any sales/bargains? Not buying a MIAB again.

      • Shame that OZMattress is gone, thanks to the owner's dabbling in BitCoins.
That was one of the best value, non-MIAB, bed sellers around. If anyone knows a similar product, please share!
