ANZ Rewards Platinum Will No Longer Waive Annual Fee for Me

Just rang ANZ as my annual and rewards fee are due for my rewards platinum credit card. They said it is now policy that they will only waive the annual fee ($25) but not the rewards fee ($55). So I am going to cancel as I won't gain $55/year in rewards.

I need a new credit card that has travel insurance and preferably no annual fee. I pay off in full each month. I have just applied for the Westpac $200 cash back deal but need another CC with travel insurance. Any ideas?

    • I personally have the Bankwest Platinum one. Worth looking into! Apart from no annual fee and complimentary travel insurance, it also has no international transaction fees.

  • thanks, was hoping for a lesser amount of spend on the holiday than $500 (ANZ was $200 and not for each person).

  • Can you not keep the ANZ card (if they continue to waive the annual fee) but not pay for the rewards component? That is, if other features of this card are compelling. If you don't think you'd gain even $55 in rewards/year, it seems to me that rewards are not worth having - regardless of which card you have!

  • Just rang them, they have a deal called anz platinum, first year fee of $87 waived and it includes travel insurance. Might be worth keeping the card for a year just for the travel insurance.

    • +3

Amazing what you can learn if you just actually call the bank first.
