$900 Gaming PC from MSY Computers

I am currently on the hunt for a cost-performance value desktop for the cheapest prices. After doing alot of digging in Aus (I live in Perth, WA), I came across these guys. They are offering a prebuilt PC with the following spec,

https://www.msy.com.au/viconline/mspec-gaming-pc/22602-knigh…

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5-2600 6 Core 3.4GHz
Motherboard: ASUS PRIME A320M-K Motherboard
Memory: Crucial 8G DDR4 2400
Graphic Card: ASUS RX 580 Dual OC
SSD: SanDisk 120G SSD SATA3 SSD
Hard Disk: Seagate 3.5" BarraCuda 1TB SATA III Hard Disk Drive
Case: ARMAGGEDDON Vulcan V1x Mid Tower Gaming Case
Power Supply: Thermaltake BX1 550Watt Power Supply
Cooling Fan: ARMAGGEDDON Scarlet Blade 120mm (12cm) Red LED Fan

That seems really good value for money given that the CPU/MB/GPU are coming from reputed manufacturers, but the only thing that concerns me (apart from the single channel 8 GB memory) is the PSU which comes from Thermaltake, will it cook my system after 2-3 months of use?

Is there anything shady about this build?

Need your thoughts guys.

Cheers

Yeah came across them, but they are in Adelaide and if something fs up during these rainy delivery times, i have to wait even longer and spend more money on returns and stuff.

However, Msy has two stores in Perth and I live close to one of them. Easy right?

      • Check my posts about warranty/support from techfast. They are AAAAAA+++++++ on super as far as I'm concerned.

The TT PSU failing in a few months shouldn't be your concern. MSY and TT have to keep it running under consumer law.

Is recommend adding a 3000 or 3200mhz dual channel memory kit. Make sure it has AMD support on the kit, the memory OC isn't the same for Intel and AMD, so the auto OC won't always work and you'll be stuck at 2400mhz it you'll have to do manual OC/timings.

  • Just Wait till monday!!!

    • Yep this….that 580 becomes redundant then. Then everyone will sell them and you can grab a bargain.

    • Yea I will wait till next weekend and see if something happens.

    • why Monday?

Google "Ryzen 3000 series and navi gpu" you will know everything.

  • I also just priced it up at UMART - with the case and fan still from MSY because they don't sell it and it came to 876

So not really a great price. Although doesn't factor in building it yourself.

And that case looks disgraceful :P

  • A320 chipsets are not compatible with Zen2
    https://www.tomshardware.com/news/amd-x570-chipset-first-gen…

You should avoid buying a system that uses A320 motherboard, at the very least go for B450. You will have less issues with compatibility as well better support for RAM. First gen boards are very finicky about what RAM you can use.

Ryzen also likes fast memory, due to the way Infinity Fabric and Ryzen's CCX is tied to memory speed. I tried two different kits of RAM, a pair at 2400mhz and another pair at 2933 mhz and see some pretty major differences.

    • Yea that is true, but adding all those stuff will exceed my $900~1000 budget. :/

Why worry when you're buying a completed system from MSY? If something goes wrong just give them the whole system to fix.

Next week is going to be the biggest week in the pc world in a decade.

Ryzen 3000 CPU's, and the Radeon 5700 series and nVidia Super GPU's are all being released.

The price/performance situation is going to change, I would wait and add all the new parts into the equation.

Wow!. I'm on the verge of upgrading my i5-2500k and 1060gtx. I can feel all of my 6 nipples tingling at the thought of another pc configuration that will last another 7 years.

      • can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not, but regardless, today is a good day for CPU's
