Plastic/Resin Garden shed - Are they any good?

I am planning to buy a good looking shed. But extremely confused on what to get. Steel sheds are cheap but hard to assemble and do not look good.
Timber sheds are too expensive for me plus needs to be maintained in long run.
Plastic sheds seems to be more appealing and I am assuming they are maintenance free. But they seems expensive too at least for the size I want.
I already have slab area which is 2.5 X 2.5 M (8 X 8 foot) so cant go any bigger and do not want to go any smaller.
What are your thoughts experience with it.

In bunnings there is lifetime shed (2.1 X 2.1 M) only for $999.
Cant justify to put more then double for slightly bigger area.

Thanks in Advance.

  • A steel shed always looks the same. Doesn't look the best but it will always look kinda okay.

A plastic shed looks nice now… Until it fades and warps.

Just do it once, do it right.

Ps. The size difference between the two products you listed is 47%

    • True that. Area wise its big.
Didnt know plastic sheds fades.do you know whats life for plastic sheds. They come with 10 years warranty though.
      Thanks

I have a few plastic boxes from years ago. The Lifetime one is not bad. Not much fading (some when compared to brand new on in the shop).

All save one was fully shaded. The one that isn't shaded is so badly faded and warped that the lid doesn't fully close. That one isn't a Lifetime one. Can't remember the brand but it's no cheapie.

  • My guess is a color bond shed would outlast a plastic one. Plastic will fade and become brittle before the colorbond rusts.

We have a Keter Bellevue purchased March 2015. It's going strong. We really like it. It looks great and there is no warping of the plastic at all.

Being quite happy with our purchase, we just bought a Keter Grande from Landera in the recent ebay 20% off sale - this one is for the bikes etc.

I'm confident we will get 15+ years out of our Bellevue. It doesn't seem to be weathering much.

  • That's… a glorified cubbyhouse

    • Lol, I feel the same, what what else we can do when you sold on beauty :).
Once I have kids, I might make that as a cubbyhouse. or probably my quite room when kids and wife driving me crazy in house. :)

  • I was at Costco Auburn on the weekend and they had a number of Lifetime products and one Keter box. I didn't get the specs for the Lifetime shed which looks very similar to yours as I wasn't interested in that one but I found a video online to what I think may be the one I saw… though I can't be sure.

I did get a photo of the ones I was interested in:

Keter Box (price and specs hanging above it)
    Lifetime Horizontal
    Lifetime Vertical

Back in 2016 , I bought a Keter Store It Out similar to this and it sits out in direct sunlight all day near the pool with no signs of deterioration that I have seen.

    • The Lifetime video is the one I wanted. Though it is bit bigger then the provisioned space in backyard.
I went to Costco Docklands yesterday and found lifetime (8 X 7.5) for $1199. which felt really good price.
But sadly, I rushed into it and bought it from Landera "Keter factor (8X8)" on last Friday. I tried calling today and realized it already been dispatched. Cost for returning is too much. So I will now keep it.

Burn for $900. I am trying to make myself happy that this is more suitable size for me and in long run this extra bucks will prove to be just fine :)

Anyone know if KETER is better then Lifetime?

      • Don't worry - Keter has a good reputation. Never heard of Lifetime before I went to Costco.
