For those that don't know: Requires a Philips Hue bridge (not included)

    • Came here for that comment, +10. Next to price a bridge and take a trip to Bunnings. Sunday arvo sorted

  • Good price on the bridge at bunnings too, I priced matched at good guys and used the concierge credit you get when you buy those ridiculous good guys warranties on white goods.

  • Extendable up to 10 meters

How does a 2m lightstrip extend to 10m

    • +5

Buy 5 and connect them together

You'd actually need to buy 9 in total as the extensions are only 1 m each.

  • For those in the market for LED Smart Strips, I would highly recommend Lifx. You can pick up a 2m Strip for $100 on sale, which is less than the price for the Phillips Hue strip + Bridge. The Lifx is up to 2-3x brighter than the Hue, with closer LEDS making the light bounce more evenly across the wall. I have both, and will vouch for the Lifx everytime.

That being said, this is a great price if you already have the hue Bridge!

    • I used to say I would agree with you, however I found Hue to be more open in terms of what I can do.
e.g I put the light strip on my garage roof, and paired it with a hue sensor so that every time the door opens it comes on and then turns off after a while.
I do agree though that the Lifx is noticeably brighter for when I used to have them, but found the Hue more versatile over all.

    • I also find the Hue to be much more reliable and responsive. I wait for a minute sometimes for the Lifx to come on and a couple just don't connect anymore. Hue, never an issue. Brightness is a loss with Hue though.

      • The problem is that you can't fix the LED performance, that is hardware. But you can fix the software. Hue 100% has better app integration in terms of their app and other products. But I can only hope that Lifx updates their app to 'catch up.'(I'm talking about products you already have).

        • Already had he hub so went for this - put it under the kitchen cupboards as the wife was complaining it was too dark while she prepped and cooked. Now it lights up like a Christmas tree - very nice.

this is reasonably similar (no wifi conectivity, but does have IR remote). 1m longer also.

Most of the cheap alternatives are RGB.
There are plenty of cheaper RGBW led strips with remotes, wifi connections and etc too.
With Philips you are paying extra for customer service, software and future development.
For this price I would pick Philips over any other $30-$40 led strips for the reasons I mentioned above.

  • Price beat Officeworks, got it for $64.50

Got this but Bunnings gave me crap. It scanned as $124 an they were saying they don't discount this product bla bla. Even showed them the web site. They eventually called a manager, all good.

Wish I had thought about Officeworks - that was a smart move….

  • can confirm the price - just bought 1 of these :D

  • And it's back up…
