eBay Seller Just Posted My Item (Sunday 6pm)

I ordered an electric gadget on eBay from an Australian seller at 6 pm on Sunday night, and 1 hour later I got a notification that the seller had posted the item. How can they post something at 7 pm on a Sunday night?

Could be an auto generated notification from the seller creating an eBay post label

E-post. It means it’s is loaded in Auspost’s system. Won’t have been picked up yet. Just an active tracking number at this stage. Happens all the time.

    • This is it.

I often send things via Sendle's ebay integration tool, I can literally process it within a minute of payment, it will mark as send.

  • Great. Nothing to worry about then. Thanks for your replies.

    • Do you mean where it says it's 'dispatched'? That's a manual trigger on eBay when selling so they could have packaged it (possibly even with online printed label) and ready to post in morning but ticked box saying it's sent already.

A lot of aus sellers aren't in Australia either. Tricksters.

        Cheers, I never knew that!

    • I actually now search out the tricksters. Prices close to or on par with overseas and no gst because they are "in" Australia.

Lots of Post Office agencies are open extended hours: I have a nearby hardware shop that's open early mornings and a tobacconist that's open late at night. Both are Australia Post agencies. Great for getting stuff sent/activating tracking outside usual Post Office hours, which generally match my working hours.

Ebay has a link for the seller to press and it generates the shipping label instantly. Even if they don't print it and ship it until five days later, it'll still show up a shipped. They aren't trying to deceive you intentionally.

I received an email this morning at 10:15 with invoice saying that it had been despatched.
They are in Oz and they have been on eBay for more than 12 years - their negative feedback in the last month being 0.3% of total feedback for the month; but I just got a bit startled with that Sunday thing - but you've all explained the possible reasons now, so thanks.
