4G Pocket Router with RJ45 Port?

My parents have a issue with their internet connection and it will be down for up to a week.

Is there any 4g pocket routers that have a RJ45 out?

  • Also failing that, can anyone recommend a NBN compatible 4g router that has ADSL 2+ support for now.

    • The Asus DSL-AC86U is ADSL & FTTN compatible and works very well with 4G dongles

  • Netgear Nighthawk M1 and M2

    This is the cheapest I found when I was looking a few months ago.

    Otherwise you can get travel router where you add a USB 4g modem onto it but the total cost won't be much less and its more annoying to setup.

    Huawei E5885Ls-93a. Is 4G, wifi and cat6 rj45 connection. Also acts as a battery backup as well. Biggest problem is making sure that it supports AU 4G bands.

    Supports;
    LTE FDD: B1/B2/B3/B4/B5/B7/B8/B20/B19
    LTE TDD: B38/B40/B41(2555-2655MHz)
    UMTS: B1/B2/B4/B5/B6/B8/B19

    As for home routers, depends on what way you want to go. Most VDSL (NBN fttn) routers will backwards support ADSL2. There are plenty of models out there that support a 4G fall over connection as well. A lot of newer routers have a USB port on them and support the use of 4G USB stick modems.

    For home, I would go with something like the Asus 4G-AC68U. I have the DSL-AC68U and it is great, so I would imagine the 4G model would be identical except with the addition of the 4G fall over option.

  • A 4G USB modem and an old laptop is the cheapest and simplest solution - just bridge the connections. A router that supports 4G dongles, like the Asus RT-AC68U is an effective but expensive solution; and most other routers are hit & miss with 4G dongle compatibility.

    I'm assuming the Cat5 port is mandatory for you? i.e. VoIP adapter? You can always run VoIP through a mobile app (e.g. Zoiper on Android works well over 4G) if that's your roadblock.
