Peroni Red Lager 24 Cans 500ml - $72.95 with Free Delivery @ Dan Murphy's

80

What better way to reign in Dry July than to purchase a slab of imported Peroni Reds to keep on ice until August. Some say It's tasteless like Beloka Water, some say It's like the Swiss Alps with some fuzz going down your throat.

1.9 standard drinks per can so lookout, especially you New South Welshman.

Dispatched by Avery Dawson Liquor Group. I ordered yesterday and is shipping today.

On a good day, you may see a slab of Red Peroni's for $40 - 330ml x 24 and this is $73 - 500ml x 24 - So according to my math, this is actually a $1 per litre more but some may find it good for shotgunning purposes.

    Awesome description 👏🏼

  • Correct on the regular price of the bottles, my folks own a bottleshop and when we can get them we usually sell slabs between $40 and $45. Note that this isn't as good as what we call "regular Peroni" (Nastro Azzurro, or Blue Ribbon), this is your VB to Crownies comparison.

Red is MUCH better than the supposedly "blue ribbon" Nastro Azzurro!

      • Depends on the type of beer you like. I find blue to be crisper and less malty, which is what I want from a European style lager. You also get more variability with the Reds, being parallel imports.

I haven't had either in a while, this is largely based on what customers have told me.

        • fair enough! like anything, taste is in the eye of the beholder

  • Can buy in smaller bottleshops for $67(maybe less) if you look around in Vicoria at least. Obviously not delivered, but not a great price imo.

Seems like Dan's doing the Amazon thing, selling others products and taking a nice cut on top.

    • Yep, Avery Dawson supplies independents as well as Dan's and actually pass on some decent prices.

I think in regards to selling other suppliers product as a marketplace, it makes plenty of sense, as cutting more delivery costs out makes a big difference. Working on about 15kg for the slab, these are selling for less than $5/kg, so delivery is an absolute pest.

    • Hi Soluble. 2 things.

      1. Feel free to post where you can find them cheaper.
      2. Feel free to post a deal.

      :)

      • Well right now according to Dan's eBay you can get it for $69.30 delivered using PARSLEY.

        • Excellent work!

Not quite $67 but good on you.

          • @Pootie Tang: I'm standing in a store right now where they are $67. It's not a deal it's a standard sell price.

            • @Soluble: The State you stand in also doesn't support recycling, hence why you are $2.40 better off than others.

      • Wow, bit snippy and insecure.

        • Not at all. Just sick of fence sitters. If one person finds this 'deal' helpul, I feel vindicated.

I believe Red is imported and others are brewed here under license Asahi Beverages.

    • Yes, but you can still get regular Peroni imported from certain places, more likely independents supplied by this supplier. You can usually tell because the cases look a bit more beaten up and have older labelling.

Peroni red is much, much better than Nastro Azzuro.

Peroni red is what you get in Italy, it's the more common option, and the one where we get here is imported. Always.

Most Italian beers have a real maltiness instead of bitterenss (which I like) or a suddsy lager taste (which I hate). Red is nice and malty.

Used to be about 35 bucks at my local when it first popped up here in about 2015. Loved it and as a student, having a good beer that cheap and down the road was a godsend. Very nostalgic.

    • Is that what Birra Moretti is like? I haven't had it for years, but I remember not liking it, and I didn't like the Peroni Red, probably for the same malty reason.

      • +1

Yeah, Moretti is pretty similar. Dan Murphy's recently took the price down to about $50 from 65-plus.
