What's The Best Use of JB Hi-Fi's Giftcard

Hi,

I recently got a $500 JBHIFI gift card from a 12-month phone plan. However, i often find that JBHIFI's price is not that good compare to lots of online deal.

So i'm quite curious what a true ozbargainer use of a giftcard? can i use it to buy a ebay card?(seems no)

For example, i often prefer wooli or coles giftcard, so that i can use them to buy any other giftcards like ebay/efpos cards

My tax bill is only paid in iTunes credit, how do I get them to accept JB hi-fi?

  • pretty sure you cannot buy gift cards with gift cards at woolies/coles but you could swap it for a woolies and use it for groceries

    • i can, always did that tho:)

    • you could swap it for a woolies and use it for groceries

Well, not at JB you can't but you could try through the Classifieds

  • JB is pretty good at price match.

    Price match?

Otherwise JB Hifi quite often have front page, popular deals

    • Do JB really ever pricematch these days? I thought, especially on the Ebay deals, they tend to refuse to - claiming that Ebay is providing the extra discount and that they can't match this.

I dont know if they've changed their policies but they always used to refuse when I tried in the past - e.g with Ebay sales where it'll be 10% off at The Good Guys.

Not many will price-match eBay deals as yes obviously eBay cover half the discount (at least).

      • Yes they will make up excuses not to cover it.

Their cheap prices are fake news.

  • Sell it for cash and get your moneys worth elsewhere

Have to sell at approx 8% discount on here, maybe even 10%. The next question to answer is whether JB is 10% more expensive than the competition.

      • If price for some product elsewhere is $90 and at JB costs $100 (to make it break even if selling the voucher for cash and 10% discount) then jb would need to be 11% more expensive (90*1.111…=100)

Once upon a time there was a man who was walking along the street with 2 dollars in his pocket. One fell out. When he noticed he said "oh well, I only lost half my wealth". When he walked back the same way later he found the dollar and cheered, for he had just doubled his wealth!

I figured someone would be pedantic and correct my generalised statement

  • Price match at JB hifi what you want from another website or wait until they have a sale.

It really depends on what you need//don’t already have. If you need something and would have paid full price to get it and you will definitely use it then that is the best value. If you buy it and it sits in the corner gathering dust then you’ve wasted $500.

JB now sell electrical (vacuum cleaners, kettles etc) so it’s not just audio visual items.

Possibly use it to upgrade your phone when a new model comes out?

Or if you know of someone having a special occasion (birthday, wedding, anniversary etc you could possibly ask to split the gift cards togive them as a gift or buy something from JB as a gift.

  • I usually just buy steam gift cards from JB hifi with GCs since it's hard to find good prices on stuff

Ask yourself, what would your inner child do?

    hint:Jb hifi sell pokemon cards

  • Yeah best option looks like either sell on ebay or ozbargain classifieds.

The huawei p30 lite sells for about $449 from jb hi fi and $417 on ebay so there is a $32 loss there but still only 7% loss so that is one avenue but people will want cheaper so will probably end up being 10% if you can't sell it at that price and try sell lower.

I would try for trade for other gift cards first before resorting to buying and selling an item.

Went to jb hi fi today yeah they sell quite a few things now definitely more than before.
