How Do Sites Like IWTF Find Their Cheap Flights?

Eg: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/469583

Do they have access to special travel agent systems we dont have, are airlines distributing this stock to their agent network or is it just a matter of searching for sales and anomalies ie anyone could do the same thing on skyscanner?

Always been curious

Cheers

  • its a rather complex algorithm

    • Proof? To me it seems like:

      1. Look up flight pairs
      2. Compare to previous/average prices

The trick seems to be the access to the inventory not an algorithm.

  • Perhaps access to distributions or other airline/aggregation APIs, coupled with some thresholds or AI to look for anomalies (e.g. cost well below trend)?

    • Yeah thats what i thought too but it seems like these smaller online agents do it more than the big players. I'd have thought the big players would be the ones with that kind of access and tech.

Unless these guys are all built off skyscanner in the backend?

  • +1

also help you find lost inheritances at the same time
