  • Showing as $198 for me. I haven't yet signed up to Prime though, does it show a reduced price when logged in with Prime?

Edit: Looked a bit closer at the ad and saw the answer to the above is Yes

    • Not sure if it require Prime subscription, but the discount will be applied at checkout.

If anyone is looking for soundbar, I highly recommend this alternative on SONOS Playbase - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/470381

I happened to come across this just before making up my mind to purchase this YAMAHA YAS-108

Yes, it's around ~2x more expensive, but this is the cheapest on SONOS playbase I've ever seen. the cons of SONOS Playbase is that it does not use the HDMI ARC, and relies on optical cable.

    See: https://www.whathifi.com/sonos/playbase/review

    • No ARC and double the price?

      Lol

    • Would only suck if your TV does not have optical out. I'm also going to assume the SONOS without the ARC would have be turned off manually as normally with ARC connected devices, the device turns off when you turn the TV off as well.
Less features and double the price, i would hope the sound is double the quality. Though imo i wouldn't pay this much for a soundbar. I'll rather a Logitech z906 over optical.

What are you talking about? Optical out has severe limitations on what formats of audio it can output, especially anything current.

        • you don't understand what i'm saying, I'm simply stating the fact that paying $450 for a soundbar seems silly period. Having limitations is different set of issues all together. BTW I have Logitech Z906 5.1 surround and haven't hit any these so called "severe audio limitations" so they're obviously not so severe.

          • @bogak: Nah, there are sound bars that cost a couple grand and can do Atmos and get good reviews compared to your toy of a sound system.

  • Thanks for posting OP. I got one. So torn I'd missed out on TGG deal!

How much better is the sound on this compared to stock LG B8 speakers?

I originally tried to purchase the Good Guys one on eBay. They never contacted me. They never posted the goods. They marked the eBay order as posted by refused to tell me what tracking there was. I sent them messages asking directly for the tracking number and they would fob me off. After 2 weeks, eBay refunded me the order literally within minutes of me pushing the report button.

In contrast Amazon keeps me up to date, tells me when to expect it in my inbox (and usually beats that date as well), and I don't have to deal with the Good Guys' shitty support and their Pontius Pilate school of after sales support. So if you missed The Good Guys' deal, count yourself lucky. They are shit retailers.

Can anyone recommend a stand alone subwoofer to pair with this soundbar? Been trying to find one to utilize the sub-woofer port. Thanks in advance ^__^

      Two options for you.
      This Cerwin Vega.
I posted a deal for it when it was $161 Delivered with code (maybe you can wait around for one, although it seems 10% eBay code these days is selected items only).
It has all the advanced controls to have it cross-over with the YAS-10# series.

The compact design is very similar to the sub which comes with the YAS-207, only the Cerwin Vega has a larger woofer & advanced controls. User experience is hard to come by, there is a single review on the eBay listing which kind of sums it up.

Another option is this Voll S8 (which also has cross-over control for proper setup with YAS-10#) for the same price $199, recently released for an introductory price.
Here is a ozbargain user experience (quite positive I would say). I expect this Voll to hit lower and harder than the Cerwin Vega.

  • grabbed one too

  • CamelCamelCamel is showing its been that price for the past month?

    • At $195 yes, but with the prime discount at checkout it's $169 which doesn't reflect on CamelCamelCamel

  • Just got one of these and I'm actually very impressed by the sound.
It's in the corner of the room and I sit in the opposite corner, which amplifies the bass, so I have bass set to -4 (the lowest setting) but with bass boost turned on (fuller sound than turning it off and turning bass up).
I did a frequency test and it goes all the way down to about 50Hz before it fades away, which is very impressive given the lack of an active standalone boxed sub.
I just plugged it into the TV via Aux cable and the TV auto mutes itself and controls the soundbar volume instead, so no need to ever use the soundbar remote once you've chosen your settings.
