I'm not sure how long it's been around, but I've started noticing that Travelzoo are offering their Local Deals in various cities around Australia for dining, beauty, and accommodation offers (I know they usually have accommodation offers, but these ones are different in that you buy a voucher from Travelzoo to use with the service provider, rather than book directly with the venue as per their top20 deals and the like).
As an example, the first and current special for Brisbane is $99 for a 3 course dinner for 2 at Restaurant TWO, which is advertised as a saving of 50%. There are some conditions/restrictions, such as Mon-Thu only, and the menu is specific to the deal (about half the options available in the full menu).
Looks like the Local Deals thing has been around overseas since the latter half of 2010 (going by this), and may be a fairly recent addition to Australia (going by this, and the scarcity of past deals listings on the Travelzoo site). BTW the links are just random things I found while googling, so have no idea what weight to give them.
Anyway, this is just an FYI in case anyone might be interested to check them out. Couldn't see any info on OzB about these so thought I'd throw up a forum post. They seem to be not about one deal/offer per day (more like whenever one's available), and the current Brisbane deal is available for 7 days. Hopefully this means there will be quality offerings rather than just large quantities of not so good stuff :)
