Telstra Pre-Paid. How Do You Find It?

Hi all,

I'm currently researching Telstra Pre-paid plans and seeking those reviews who are already on them.

How do you find reception/speed and general service?

I've looked into AldiMobile who are also powered by Telstra, but I've decided to go with a Telco that is… known?

Let me know your thoughts.

  • Reception and speed are same as Telstra post paid. Service is better on prepaid IMO because there’s less the consultants need to know.

No visual voicemail on prepaid either BTW. Other features are often slower to come to prepaid (eg VoLTE).

    • No Telstra One either, which is the add-on that allows things like the cellular Apple Watch to work without the phone present.

This is annoying not so much for me, but my mother who I put on Telstra Prepaid a few years ago so she can't run up $1000 debits by texting YES to $8/week subscription scams…

She also wears an Apple Watch which

      (a) lets her live out her childhood dream of being Dick Tracy, and
      (b) has fall detection.

Very annoying the two can't be combined.

I believe Telstra have stopped premium SMS now

  • boost mobile may be a better option for prepaid

Indeed. Just like Telstra prepaid, but can be as little as half the price…

as someone who has been with optus voda and telstra using the 28-35day port in / out trick each expiry, Primarily used in the area bounded by the Parramatta River, Down Concord Rd, Burwood Rd, Bexley Rd to the M5 and out west to Liverpool and then down the cumpberland highway to the parramatta river

Telstra is the fastest and best network (100 - 260 mbps) yes thats right I have gotten 26MB / SEC on my Salt Water Damaged S7, where as optus gets 40 - 150 and Vodafone gets up to 70 max
